What She Overheard in Her Own Marriage novel Chapter 384

Jane hurried out. When she saw her granddaughter, her eyes crinkled into a huge smile. "Sweetheart, Grandma missed you so much! Come here, give Grandma a hug."

Brynlee threw herself into Jane's arms, wrapping her little hands around her neck affectionately. Kaia watched them, her mood brightening. This was the epitome of happiness—an ordinary afternoon with a warm, loving family.

Just then, her phone buzzed.

Kaia glanced down. It was her lawyer, Quinn Finch.

"Mom, watch her for a second. I need to take this."

Kaia stepped away to a quieter spot. "Mr. Finch."

Quinn's voice came through the speaker, heavier than usual. "Dr. Chavez, I have results."

"What did you find?" Kaia's grip on the phone tightened.

"Noelle Lawrence was rushed into the ER at Mercy General Hospital, the closest one to her apartment, around 8:30 this morning," Quinn reported.

He paused before adding, "I had my assistant stake out the area for two days. We got these."

A moment later, several photos pinged onto Kaia's phone.

She turned the screen horizontally to look. In the first photo, taken outside the hospital entrance, Finnian was carrying Noelle in his arms, sprinting toward the ER. Noelle was leaning against his chest, her face pale, her eyes squeezed shut.

Kaia instantly understood why Finnian had been late. His precious sister-in-law had an emergency again.

In the second photo, Finnian was standing outside the emergency room. Every line of his body was coiled with tension—he looked exactly like a husband terrified for his wife.

The third photo showed Noelle being transferred to a VIP suite. Finnian was walking alongside the gurney, his eyes locked on the unconscious woman.

"Thank you, Mr. Finch. These photos are crucial for the divorce filing," Kaia said, her voice steady.

Quinn's tone softened with a trace of sympathy. "My assistant confirmed it. Noelle Lawrence is pregnant."

Kaia closed her eyes. Suspecting it was one thing; having it confirmed was another.

Hearing nothing but silence on the line, Quinn asked gently, "Dr. Chavez, are you alright?"
