"Brynlee, come over to Grandmother," Josephine called out. Looking at Brynlee made her think of Kaia, and she glanced toward the door. Seeing no one else walk in, a wave of disappointment settled over her.

Brynlee immediately ran over to Josephine's side and climbed into the chair next to her.

Josephine pointed toward Noelle. "Aunt Noelle is going to have little babies in her tummy soon. A little brother and a little sister. Will you like them?"

Brynlee stared at her for two full seconds. Then, she suddenly spun around, ran back to Finnian, and threw herself into his arms, scrambling desperately to climb up his chest. Finnian caught her, bewildered. "Brynlee, what's wrong?"
