What She Overheard in Her Own Marriage novel Chapter 500

The corporate office organized an intimate Celebration Dinner, inviting only high-level insiders.

The event was held in the penthouse banquet hall of a five-star hotel owned by the conglomerate. Beyond the floor-to-ceiling windows, the city's night view stretched out, its lights dazzling like a galaxy.

A massive Champagne Tower rose from the center table, catching the light like a small mountain of crystal. The amber liquid glowed luxuriously under the chandeliers.

Because the Celebration Dinner was a last-minute decision, upper management only received the news at 5:30 PM.

However, someone quietly tipped off Noelle. The caller was a female executive who was on good terms with her.

"Ms. Lawrence, do you need me to help arrange anything for tonight's Celebration Dinner?"

Noelle was lying listlessly in bed. The call caught her completely off guard. "What Celebration Dinner?"

The executive sounded surprised. "You didn't get the internal memo? I thought Mr. Sanders would have told you immediately. The corporation just finalized that massive government contract."

Noelle's heart dropped. She hadn't expected them to close the deal so fast. Despite her shock, she kept her tone perfectly even. "Oh, he called me about it, but I'm feeling a bit under the weather. I probably won't make it to the dinner tonight."

"Oh, right, right! You definitely need your rest. I won't bother you then." The executive laughed and hung up.

The fake smile vanished from Noelle's face in an instant. She grabbed her phone and opened her chat with Finnian. There was nothing.

She scrolled through her social media feed and stopped on a post by one of the executives. The photo was packed with people she knew—Aethelstan's vice president, corporate board members, and even two department managers she had personally promoted.

They were all in formal wear, raising their glasses, and pumping their fists for the camera.

Noelle's heart began to race. The anxiety clamped down on her chest like an invisible fist.

She swiped past it, only to find another post from a young girl in the corporate PR department. It was a grid of nine photos showcasing the extravagant banquet hall, the Champagne Tower, and a silhouette of Finnian shaking hands with guests.
