What She Overheard in Her Own Marriage novel Chapter 512

Jenny narrowed her eyes and continued, "She was completely obsessed with him back then. Everyone in our lab knew about it, but no one dared to say a word. Kaia certainly knew how to dream big. But looking at it now, I guess if you're shameless enough and bold enough to go after what you want, you really can succeed."

Dexter glanced at the privacy screen beside him before asking one final, confirming question. "Can you guarantee that everything you've said today is the absolute truth? You're not just making this up, are you?"

"Why would I make this up? If you don't believe me, go ask Kaia yourself," Jenny snapped, clearly offended. Everything she said was true.

Dexter nodded. "Well, thank you for the information. You're free to go now."

"What? I haven't even eaten yet! Why are you asking me to leave? That's so rude of you." Jenny had no intention of leaving. She came here today to look at a handsome guy and enjoy some good food.

Dexter offered an awkward smile. "Alright, I won't ruin your meal. I'll be taking off first."

"Hey, don't leave! Stay and finish the meal with me. I'm actually pretty interested in you." Jenny laughed as she stood up, reaching out to grab Dexter's arm.

"Sorry, I have a girlfriend," Dexter said, flatly rejecting her advance before turning and walking away.

Behind the adjacent screen, Finnian pulled off his sunglasses, revealing eyes that were heavily bloodshot.

He turned his head, staring at the blurry patterns on the partition, and sat there in stiff silence for a very, very long time.

His mind was completely blank.

The person Kaia had a secret crush on... was him?

Finnian walked out of the café with stiff, heavy steps. Under the sunlight, Dexter stood there, staring at him in a daze.

Seeing Finnian looking as though his soul had been ripped out, he approached and said, "Boss, you heard everything, right? Who would've thought that the person Dr. Chavez had a crush on was actually you."
