"What secret? What else are you keeping from us? Spit it out."
"I can't say." Finnian stood up, looking visibly relaxed. "I should go apologize to Julian first."
"Finnian, you're treating us like outsiders, aren't you?"
Finnian smirked. "I'm not, but this is one secret I want to keep to myself for now. I'll share it later."
Quentin and Chad looked at him in surprise. They hadn't seen him smile so easily in a while. Had some massive piece of good news landed in his lap?
Miles Kendrick returned from abroad. Two months of academic exchange made him miss home-cooked meals.
Tonight, the Kendrick family hosted a small dinner party to welcome Miles back.
The Kendrick family had always been highly disciplined. The cousins excelled in their own fields, with virtually no family discord or infighting. This was thanks to their ancestors, who set a strict rule three generations ago: the family must stay united to fend off external threats. Furthermore, the Kendrick family had a centuries-old rule—men who married were forbidden from being unfaithful. Anyone who violated this would be expelled from the family and lose all support.
This allowed the Kendrick family to thrive and prosper to this day.
Because of this, the men of the Kendrick family were highly sought after. Countless socialites wanted to marry them.
"You're back." Julian Kendrick walked down the stairs, wearing a dark gray loungewear set. Holding a glass of water, he leaned against the banister and lazily watched Miles walk in.
"Yeah." Miles looked at him with a warm gaze.
"Come upstairs, let's chat." Julian lifted a finger and turned back up the stairs.
Miles followed him to the casual balcony on the second floor.
Watching his reaction, a smile curved on Julian's lips. "Looks like you didn't know."
"Are you serious?" Miles's voice dropped, seeking confirmation.
"Of course." Julian looked up at the sky, his smile deepening. "You'd better step up your game. I'm hoping that one day, I can call an incredible woman like Dr. Chavez my sister-in-law. She's a rare catch. Finnian Sanders didn't deserve her."
Miles's Adam's apple bobbed. He looked down at the water droplets on his fingers, his heart racing.
He remembered the last time he saw Kaia before going abroad. He had visited the Veridian lab to discuss a project. She was wearing a lab coat, her hair pinned up, standing in front of a microscope.
That was when he told her he was leaving the country for a while. Kaia had wished him a safe trip. But in that moment, he hadn't wanted to leave. For a few fleeting seconds, he hadn't thought about projects or academia, nor what he needed to do abroad. All he could think about was: Would she and Finnian ever divorce?

The readers' comments on the novel: What She Overheard in Her Own Marriage
Finnian is finally awake to Noelle’s schemes! I hope he cuts the cord completely and brutally. He needs to truly repent and suffer the consequences for all the pain he caused Kaia and his blatant favoritism toward Noelle. Only then should there be even a slight hope of Kaia softening her heart....
Why does this book take so long to update, instead of 5 chapters mentioned above, we are getting about one chapter a day on average! please do not leave the readers on cliffhangers! thank you....
Please update soon. This story is good. And I'm hoping it won't go till 2000 chapters.. Although it's current slow pace is telling....
