"You're trying to seduce Kaia. Don't think I can't see it," Finnian sneered, cutting straight to the point.
Silas wasn't remotely bothered that his intentions had been exposed. Leaning lazily against the doorframe, he asked, "Finnian, do you even know what it means to truly love someone?"
Finnian stiffened, completely caught off guard by the question.
When Finnian remained silent, Silas answered his own question. "Oh, right, I forgot. You used to be in love with Noelle. So you must know exactly what true love is."
Finnian's expression darkened instantly. His gaze fixed on Silas like a pair of daggers. "Watch your mouth."
Silas smiled—a punchable, defiant smirk. Emboldened by the alcohol and a simmering, deep-rooted anger, he continued, "For her, you're willing to ignore right and wrong. You're willing to clean up her messes. Even when she does something utterly despicable, you blindly, unconditionally believe in her."
"Silas, that's enough," Finnian snarled, his face twisting with rage. "You're talking about your sister, aren't you?"
Silas stumbled over to the sofa and collapsed into it. His eyes were half-closed, confirming he was thoroughly drunk. Yet the words that left his mouth were as sharp as glass. "Finnian, you moved heaven and earth to protect Noelle back then. Do you have any idea what she actually did?"
Finnian stepped fully into the room and shut the door. He stared down at Silas, who was resting his head against the back of the sofa.
