Finnian squeezed his eyes shut. "Fine. I'll find him and ask him. How is your sister doing lately? She hasn't been back to the Sanders estate in years. Does she ever plan on returning?"
"As long as a toxic bitch like Noelle is in this country, my sister is disgusted by the mere thought of stepping foot on this soil," Silas said coldly. "No, she's never coming back."
A heavy weight settled in Finnian's chest. Seraphina Sanders was around their age; they had practically grown up together.
"Silas, I am truly sorry about what happened to your sister. I hope she can eventually heal from that trauma. And I'd welcome her back to the family estate anytime. We share the same blood. We are family." Finnian pictured Seraphina's face in his mind. She used to be so full of life, always carrying a camera around to capture the beauty in the world. He genuinely hadn't seen his cousin in a very long time.
"She's completely disillusioned with the Sanders family. I've tried convincing her to come back, but she made it clear—she's done with us," Silas said, his mood visibly sinking.
Finnian fell silent. Finally, he murmured, "I'm sorry. I've always wanted to say that to Seraphina."
"Save it," Silas snapped, turning his head away.
Finnian walked over to the minibar, grabbed a bottle of water, unscrewed the cap, and sat down on the adjacent sofa, taking a sip. "Are you pursuing Kaia because of what happened to your sister?"
Silas paused, surprised that Finnian was pivoting back to this topic.
"No," Silas replied flatly. "I simply admire and respect her. It has absolutely nothing to do with my sister."
"When did this start?" Finnian's face hardened. "Exactly how long have you felt this way?"
Silas glanced over at Finnian's furious expression and chuckled. "What, are you going to hit me? Why do you care? Kaia is single now. Are you saying she isn't allowed to have decent men pursuing her?"
"You specifically? No," Finnian blurted out. "You're my cousin. Kaia would never want another man from the Sanders family."
