Simon took it with both hands, a smile playing on his handsome face. "I apologize for showing up uninvited. Anna insisted on coming, and that's how I found out it was your birthday."
Kaia looked down and smiled. "I'm very glad you could make it. Please, have a seat. It's great that Anna is here, now Brynlee has a playmate."
Simon had lied. He had known all along that today was her birthday; he just hadn't asked her about it. Anna had been the one to mention it first. His gift today was a women's watch he had spent a long time carefully selecting.
Jane quickly huddled with Layla to figure out what extra dishes to order. With Simon's arrival, Kaia felt less relaxed than before. Her bright eyes stole a glance at him, wondering if he thought she was being a bad friend for not officially inviting him to her birthday.
Just as Kaia was feeling awkward, the door was pushed open again.
This time, it was Miles, dressed in a long black trench coat. He held a bouquet of fresh flowers and an elegant box. His gaze swept the room, pausing briefly when he saw Simon, though his expression remained unchanged.
"Miles?" Kaia stood up immediately, looking from him to her father in shock.
Warren cleared his throat lightly. "I invited Miles. You two were students of mine, and a birthday needs atmosphere. The more, the merrier."
Miles smiled as he walked over to her. "Happy birthday, Kaia."
Kaia reached out to take the bouquet, greeted by a rush of floral fragrance. She quickly expressed her gratitude. "Thank you, Miles. Please sit down, I'll pour you some tea."
Miles took a seat next to Simon, and the two men exchanged a polite nod. Simon looked completely composed, but internally, he was growing anxious. The competition in this suitor lineup was getting crowded.
This was a mess. A complete mess. She hadn't invited anyone. She just wanted a simple meal and a slice of cake with her family.
But now Simon was here, Miles was here, and Silas was here too.
Jane huddled with Layla again to discuss more additions to the menu. She then went over to ask the three men about their preferences. All three were perfectly polite, not daring to make specific requests, just saying they weren't picky and anything was fine.
Jane and Warren exchanged a look. As parents, they had somehow managed to drop their daughter into a full-blown battlefield.
Just as Kaia was refilling the men's tea, Brynlee suddenly cheered at the doorway, "Daddy's here! Daddy's here!"

Finnian is finally awake to Noelle’s schemes! I hope he cuts the cord completely and brutally. He needs to truly repent and suffer the consequences for all the pain he caused Kaia and his blatant favoritism toward Noelle. Only then should there be even a slight hope of Kaia softening her heart....
