What She Overheard in Her Own Marriage novel Chapter 563

Kaia stared at Finnian for a moment before replying, "Not for now. I'll come find you if I think of anything else."

With that, she turned without looking back, opened the door, and walked out.

Finnian sat in his black leather chair, staring at the door she had just closed.

He thought about her expression when she spoke—meticulous, professional, and sharp. Her eyes were filled with nothing but a hunger for work, completely devoid of any personal emotion or sentiment.

Kaia had changed so much. She used to be as quiet and gentle as flowing water, but now, she carried a commanding, aggressive edge.

A woman like this was truly one of a kind.

Unlike other women who would cling or depend on him, she was resilient and fiercely independent.

In business, she had principles and boundaries, refusing to yield an inch.

As for personal matters...

Completely off the table.

Finnian leaned back in his chair and pinched the bridge of his nose. Even though this matter was settled, he didn't feel happy. He had tried to find even a trace of her past infatuation with him, but it was so faint it might as well have vanished completely.

Just as Kaia accepted her new corporate appointment, she welcomed her twenty-seventh birthday.

Today was Thursday, and evening was already approaching. Because she was swamped with work, she asked her parents to book a restaurant so she could head straight there after finishing up.

It was The Chef's Table. Jane and her husband thought it was a great choice—spacious with an excellent menu.

Jane and Warren arrived early with Brynlee and Layla. Their private dining room had its own tea area, and Warren was already brewing himself a cup.

Layla and Jane were chatting about the evening's menu. At that moment, before any food had been served, the door was pushed open.

Standing outside were Simon Quinn and little Anna. The little girl was holding a small gift box, her hair styled in cute braids.

Brynlee dashed over excitedly. "Anna, you're here! This is great! Mommy, I invited Mr. Quinn over too, are you happy?"

Kaia stood up instantly, looking at Simon in surprise, and then at her daughter's smug little face.

Jane and Warren also hurried over to greet their esteemed guest.

"Mr. Quinn, thank you for coming! Kaia, hurry, pour Mr. Quinn a cup of tea."

Urged by her parents, Kaia quickly poured a cup of tea for Simon.
