What She Overheard in Her Own Marriage novel Chapter 568

"You're joking, Professor. I'd be thrilled to have you all. My parents are really looking forward to meeting you," Miles said, his dark eyes fixed on Kaia.

Kaia kept a smile on her face, pretending she didn't catch the deeper meaning in his eyes.

Simon and Silas inadvertently made eye contact, both immediately looking away.

Finnian and Leo were still standing in the private room talking. They were discussing the time Leo had been scammed. Because Finnian had stepped in and recovered all the funds, Leo practically worshipped him now, treating him like a god.

Naturally, he was showering him with gratitude.

Finnian wasn't really listening to Leo's polite praises. His ears were strained toward the conversation by the door.

When he heard that Miles's birthday was coming up and that both families would be meeting, his mood plummeted like a rollercoaster hitting rock bottom. He had no right or authority to stop Kaia from finding love anymore, but it still made his chest feel unbearably tight.

He couldn't even describe the feeling.

Once the three men outside had left, Finnian carried Brynlee over to Warren and Jane. "Warren, Jane, I'll take Brynlee for the afternoon. Thanks for looking after her lately."

Hearing the casual first-name basis, Warren kept his expression neutral and nodded. "She's our granddaughter, we love having her. Go on and spend the afternoon with her."

"Say goodbye to Grandpa and Grandma," Finnian said gently.

"Bye-bye, Grandpa and Grandma!" After she finished, Brynlee patted Finnian's arm. "Daddy, hurry up and take me downstairs. I want to say bye to Anna one more time."

"You and Finnian... you didn't even exchange five sentences today." Leo looked at his sister, sighing nostalgically. "It feels like just yesterday you were trailing behind me, constantly chattering about him. Now you two barely have anything to say."

Kaia's face paled, and her fingers curled inward instinctively. It was true. Back when she had a crush on Finnian, she often sought out her brother to talk about it. Leo had just graduated college and was in grad school at the time, and Kaia, desperate to understand how guys their age thought, frequently went to him for advice.

When Leo first found out his sister was crushing on the Second Young Master of the billionaire Sanders family, he immediately tried to shut it down, telling her to stop dreaming because it would never happen.

But when a girl's heart is set, nothing can stop her from crashing into the wall.

"Leo, he and I are in the past now," Kaia said quietly.

"Really in the past?" Leo pressed.
