What She Overheard in Her Own Marriage novel Chapter 586

"I don't want to hear anymore, Finnian! Please, stop! I'm begging you. This isn't what I want to hear!" Noelle sobbed, covering her ears as huge tears rolled down her cheeks.

"Kaia was the second woman I was truly close to," Finnian continued, his gaze growing calm. "The feeling she gave me was completely different. She was your exact opposite. She doesn't fake weakness, and she doesn't need pity. She has her own independent personality, her own boundaries, her own principles. She hates relying on others and handles everything quietly on her own. Her strength shocked me. Sometimes, I felt like we were the same kind of people. I admired her from afar, but I also felt she didn't need me, so I shouldn't bother her."

Noelle's ears rang. Her deepest fear had been right all along.

Finnian was in love with Kaia. He just kept those sensitive feelings buried so deep he didn't dare show them.

"Finnian, I'll change! I won't rely on you for everything anymore. I can be strong and independent just like her!"

"You don't need to change," Finnian cut her off. "Besides, a leopard can't change its spots. You can't just change who you are because you say so."

"And the thing you really need to change is keeping high-quality men hooked in your Fish Pond. You love watching them fight over you, desperate for your affection. You thrive on the power of being fought over. But that kind of selfishness isn't love. The person you love most has always been yourself. There's nothing wrong with that, but you shouldn't be so greedy and demanding."

Noelle's face turned deathly pale. Her lips trembled, but no words came out.

This was the first time Finnian had ever spoken to her so bluntly, laying bare his truest thoughts.

"That's not true, Finnian! You've misunderstood me. I'm not like that! I've only ever loved you!" Noelle pleaded defensively.

Noelle collapsed onto the bed, sobbing violently.

Her true colors had been exposed to everyone. She had nowhere to hide and no way to argue. The persona she had meticulously maintained for years was completely destroyed. She had faked it for eighteen years—faked it so well that even she believed it.

She was still pregnant! What was wrong with the Sanders family? Didn't they have any respect for a pregnant woman? Barging in one by one to yell at her—weren't they terrified she would lose the baby?

Or did they hate her so much they didn't even want her child's genes in their bloodline anymore?

Noelle took a deep breath. No. The Sanders family wouldn't force her into a miscarriage. She was going to safely deliver this baby. They weren't going to kick her out that easily.
