What She Overheard in Her Own Marriage novel Chapter 595

Finnian had originally intended to skim the comments with a calm, detached mindset.

But the moment he read the top-voted replies, his composure shattered completely.

Someone wrote that after escaping a toxic, draining marriage, Kaia was thriving—like a queen ruling her own empire, no longer forced to take orders from anyone.

Another comment argued that marrying out of your league was a recipe for disaster, and that a romance between equals was far more appealing. They urged Miles to marry Kaia quickly and flaunt their happiness just to spite the ex.

In this digital court of public opinion, he was the undisputed villain, and Kaia leaving him was universally celebrated as the smartest move she ever made.

Finnian's large hands slowly curled into fists. In the eyes of the world, he and Kaia were already living in two entirely different universes.

She was the shining protagonist now, while he was nothing more than a forgotten love letter tossed in the trash.

He exited the comment section, placed his phone face down on the desk, leaned back in his leather chair, and closed his eyes.

It made sense. Miles had waited in the wings for years. Now that he had an opening, he was naturally seizing every opportunity to stake his claim.

In the past, hindered by her marriage, Miles had played the role of the silent, gentlemanly guardian.

But now, approaching her was as easy as breathing, and he could proudly accept the public's blessing.

Finnian's mind was an absolute mess. Memories flashed through his brain like a chaotic highlight reel.

Dexter knocked and entered, mentioning that a couple of afternoon meetings had to be rescheduled due to a time conflict, and dropped off some documents for him to sign.

Finnian just nodded. Dexter set the folders down, but seeing Finnian's eyes squeezed shut, he didn't leave immediately. "Boss, are you doing alright?"

Finnian opened his eyes, the whites threaded with red veins. Staring blankly ahead, he asked in a low, gravelly voice, "I saw the comments online. Everyone says Kaia was right to divorce me. I never realized I was such a failure of a husband."

Finnian clearly knew exactly why Dexter had stopped talking. He let out a bitter chuckle. "I understand. But you're wrong about one thing. A deep impression can be a terrible thing."

Dexter could only offer a nervous chuckle in response.

"Get back to work," Finnian said with a flick of his wrist. Dexter turned and hurried out.

The office fell into a suffocating silence. Finnian tilted his head back, staring at the ceiling, his thoughts plunging into chaos once again.

On Wednesday afternoon, Finnian escorted Josephine to the hospital for a comprehensive physical exam. As he walked past the psychiatric wing on the fifth floor, a sudden thought struck him. He told Dexter to take his grandmother up to her appointment first, then turned and knocked on the office door of a psychiatrist he knew.

"Mr. Sanders!" The middle-aged doctor stood up in surprise.

"Dr. Wallace, apologies for the intrusion," Finnian said, taking a seat when he saw the doctor had no patients. "I came to verify something regarding Noelle's consultation records from seven years ago."
