"Of course, I can pull up her file," Dr. Wallace said with a nod.
"I appreciate it. I need to know exactly what her condition was back then," Finnian said, expressing his gratitude.
Dr. Wallace reviewed the treatment notes from those sessions and explained that he had assessed Noelle with mild depression. It wasn't severe; she harbored no suicidal ideation or history of self-harm, and was fully capable of managing her daily life and work. She merely experienced bouts of anxiety.
"You prescribed her three months of medication, correct?" Finnian asked.
Dr. Wallace frowned and shook his head. "No, I never prescribed any medication for her."
Finnian's fingers twitched. "Are you absolutely certain?"
Dr. Wallace nodded firmly. "I'm very conservative with prescriptions. If medication can be avoided, I avoid it. Ms. Lawrence's condition wasn't critical. I explained the side effects and the potential for dependency, and she opted not to take anything."
Finnian's fingers curled into tight fists. So, even when it came to her illness, Noelle had been spinning a web of lies.
Back then, she always carried a small pill bottle with a white and blue label. She religiously took a pill every single day, never missing a dose.
Worried about her health, he had asked what she was taking, and she had simply lowered her head and whispered that they were antidepressants.
His legs stiff, Finnian walked out of the office. The moment the door clicked shut behind him, he slammed his fist into the wall.
Back then, his heart bled for her. He felt consumed by guilt, convinced he hadn't protected her properly. Yet, all that tragic vulnerability had been an elaborate performance. It was all fake.
"Don't lie to me this time," Josephine warned, clearly unconvinced. That little seductress was an expert at manipulation. Men were notoriously weak-willed, and Josephine feared that if Noelle put on a tearful act, Finnian would cave and rush to comfort her again.
"I'm not lying. I will never see her again," Finnian promised, raising a hand in a solemn vow. "From now on, all my energy is going into running the company."
"And regarding that massive mess she caused at Aethelstan, you need to make an example out of her. It's the only way to maintain your authority," Josephine suddenly demanded.
Finnian had already been plotting how to permanently sever Noelle from the corporate hierarchy. She still held a substantial amount of shares, and he was ready to cut her out entirely.
"I'm already working on it."
"She's still carrying Rafael's child. I'm having my lawyers draft an agreement forcing her to surrender all parental rights. That child will have absolutely nothing to do with her. You don't think I'm being too ruthless, do you?" Josephine scoffed coldly.

The readers' comments on the novel: What She Overheard in Her Own Marriage
Finnian is finally awake to Noelle’s schemes! I hope he cuts the cord completely and brutally. He needs to truly repent and suffer the consequences for all the pain he caused Kaia and his blatant favoritism toward Noelle. Only then should there be even a slight hope of Kaia softening her heart....
Why does this book take so long to update, instead of 5 chapters mentioned above, we are getting about one chapter a day on average! please do not leave the readers on cliffhangers! thank you....
