What She Overheard in Her Own Marriage novel Chapter 605

Finnian felt a suffocating wave of pain wash over him. He was a father too, blessed with a beautiful daughter. He couldn't even fathom how he would survive if anything ever happened to Brynlee.

"Mom, don't think about it anymore. Let's just go home," Finnian said gently. He could see his mother visibly wasting away. Ever since she discovered Noelle's true colors, it was as if her soul had been drained. She would never return to the bright, cheerful woman she had once been.

"Alright. Let's go home." Elaine nodded wearily.

Finnian escorted his mother out of the hospital. Martha followed closely behind, returning to the Sanders estate with them. Sitting in the back of the car, Martha looked like she desperately wanted to say something.

"Martha, are you planning to stay with Noelle going forward, or return to the main house?" Finnian asked her.

"Return to the main house, of course! I was hired by the Sanders family," Martha replied eagerly.

"You've lived with her for the better part of a year. What kind of person do you think she is?" Finnian asked casually.

Martha didn't hesitate. "I think she is an incredibly greedy woman, Mr. Sanders. Over the last several months, I've seen exactly who she is. When I realized she was trying to seduce you and plotting to force a divorce between you and Mrs. Sanders, I was absolutely appalled."

"What did you just say?" Finnian's eyes snapped open.

Even Elaine looked over in sheer disbelief.

Martha shifted uncomfortably, suddenly terrified. "It's true. Noelle would constantly ask me who was prettier and better, her or Mrs. Sanders. If I said a single negative word about her, she would throw a tantrum and use her authority as my employer to bully me. I had to lie through my teeth and tell her she was infinitely better just to keep her happy. She also drilled me constantly on your personal preferences. You must have received the lunches she sent to your office, right? She forced me to make those and deliver them. I told her it was inappropriate, but she said she wanted everyone to view her as your true wife, taking care of your daily needs. Oh, and... she also kept something under her bed at the apartment. She brought it back right before she got pregnant. It was in a black wooden box. I never dared to look closely, but it felt evil. I strongly suspect it was aimed at Mrs. Sanders or little Brynlee..."
