After finishing dinner, Josephine took Agnes and left, instructing Finnian to take good care of Elaine.
Sitting on the sofa, Elaine watched the door click shut and suddenly let out a soft laugh. "I used to complain that your grandmother was far too strict. But looking back, she's actually a remarkable woman. She's always thinking of the family's best interests, always steering the ship."
Finnian offered a bitter smile. "Yeah, Grandmother is a good person."
"I've decided I'm not going to argue with her anymore. She is my elder, after all," Elaine said softly. "During the whole mess with Noelle, both of us lashed out at her. You especially. To keep Noelle in the family, you shattered Kaia's heart and deeply disappointed your grandmother. Find some time to formally apologize to both of them."
Finnian felt completely ashamed, lowering his gaze in heavy guilt. "I will."
"As for Noelle... let's just turn the page." Elaine sounded as though she had finally made peace with it, her tone laced with self-deprecation. "If she hadn't been so relentlessly greedy, it's not as if I couldn't tolerate her. But she demanded far too much."
"Maybe we spoiled her too much growing up. We let her get away with everything, which convinced her that no matter what lines she crossed, we would always forgive her and clean up her messes," Finnian reflected bitterly.
"Spoiling a child is like ruining them. It's just a shame I realized that far too late." Elaine closed her eyes, flashes of agony and deep regret washing over her face.
"Mom, don't overthink it. You need to clear your mind and just rest right now." Finnian looked at her anxiously, noticing her eyes reddening again as she spiraled into self-blame.
"Alright. What did the doctor say? Am I just losing weight because my appetite has been off lately?" Elaine turned to him. "From now on, I'm going to adopt your grandmother's health routines. If I can be as strong as she is in my seventies, that would be a blessing."
Hearing her talk about the future, Finnian's handsome features tightened instantly.
"Where is the check-up report? Let me see it." Elaine held her hand out to him.

The readers' comments on the novel: What She Overheard in Her Own Marriage
Finnian is finally awake to Noelle’s schemes! I hope he cuts the cord completely and brutally. He needs to truly repent and suffer the consequences for all the pain he caused Kaia and his blatant favoritism toward Noelle. Only then should there be even a slight hope of Kaia softening her heart....
Why does this book take so long to update, instead of 5 chapters mentioned above, we are getting about one chapter a day on average! please do not leave the readers on cliffhangers! thank you....
Please update soon. This story is good. And I'm hoping it won't go till 2000 chapters.. Although it's current slow pace is telling....
