What She Overheard in Her Own Marriage novel Chapter 630

The concert hall was wonderfully quiet, the soaring melodies washing over everyone's souls.

As Kaia listened to a familiar tune, her thoughts inevitably drifted back in time.

Back then, whenever she drove home from the lab, she loved playing this exact romantic instrumental. There were no lyrics, just the low hum of a man and a woman, perfectly capturing a sweeping sense of destiny.

It was right after she had married Finnian. Her heart was bursting with a girlish crush that she couldn't hide, and this melody had amplified every feeling.

Back then, outside of work, she spent every waking second trying to find ways to be near him.

She even did incredibly silly things. Like when he forgot to bring his pajamas into the bathroom, she would purposely wait for him to call for her. She'd rush over with his clothes, her heart fluttering wildly just because she caught a glimpse of him.

Even though she had no idea if he actually liked her back then, every single day was filled with joy.

She had been bursting with endless energy, deeply passionate and hopeful about life.

But now, it felt like her threshold for happiness had drastically shifted. Aside from her career achievements and Brynlee's adorable antics, very little moved her.

Maybe she really needed to stop dwelling on the past. It was time to look forward.

Noticing her dazed expression, Simon reached over and gently wrapped his hand around her fingers.

Realizing her hand was slightly cold, he kept it enveloped in his warm palm.

Kaia turned to look at him, and Simon offered her a shy, charming smile.

By the time the concert ended, it was already past five in the afternoon. Kaia insisted on treating Simon to dinner.

But Simon insisted he would pay, joking that he couldn't form the bad habit of letting his girlfriend foot the bill.

Kaia didn't fight him on it. They hopped into his car and headed to a nearby food street.
