What She Overheard in Her Own Marriage novel Chapter 637

"Yeah, the surgery was a success. She's recovering pretty well so far," Finnian replied. "Probably because we caught it early, before it had a chance to worsen or spread."

Kaia nodded. "At her age, it's definitely important to keep a closer eye on foundational health issues."

Finnian genuinely hadn't expected Kaia to show any concern for Elaine's well-being. To his surprise, a strange thrill of joy flickered in his chest at her proactive check-in. The sudden rush of emotion caught him off guard—in the past, he would have been completely oblivious to these subtle emotional shifts.

"How have you been lately? Are you taking any time off? Planning a trip anywhere?" Finnian asked, naturally redirecting the conversation to her.

Kaia didn't look up, keeping her eyes glued to her screen. Right then, her phone lit up with an incoming call.

It was Simon.

Without a second thought, Kaia answered it right in front of Finnian, her tone instantly softening. "Simon."

Simon asked if she wanted to take a trip to the temple tomorrow. Linda was taking his grandmother, and he was tagging along. He wanted to know if she was interested in joining them.

Kaia kept her eyes trained on the floor, replying softly, "Let me check with Brynlee. If she wants to go, I'll bring her along and meet you guys there."

Simon sounded ecstatic on the other end. Once Brynlee was asked, the little girl would inevitably beg to go, which meant her attendance was practically guaranteed.

"Okay, you can pick me up tomorrow morning. Do I need to get anything ready?"

"I don't really know the protocol for temple visits."
