"Alright. Show me which women were spreading rumors, and I will absolutely teach them a lesson." Needing to get her out of the room, Finnian scooped her up securely and glanced at the group. "I'm going to take Brynlee for a walk."

The moment Finnian walked out with Brynlee, the atmosphere in the lounge turned suffocatingly awkward.

Noelle stood up, forcing a breezy smile. "Well, I am the star tonight. I really should go mingle with the guests. You guys have fun."

The remaining men and women exchanged knowing looks.

"Noelle, I wanted you to introduce me to someone. I'll come with you," Heather Shaw said, standing up and following Noelle out of the lounge.

Outside, Noelle's hand white-knuckled her champagne glass. Her other hand gripped a table just to keep herself steady.

Seeing that her friend was on the verge of a breakdown, Heather quickly asked, "Noelle, are you okay?"

It took everything Noelle had to swallow her emotions. She took a sip of wine and let out a bitter laugh. "Choosing the most important, happiest day of my life to teach her kid to say something so completely disrespectful... My sister-in-law really went out of her way to give me a surprise, didn't she?"
