Everything seemed to fast-forward at a dizzying speed.
Creditors banged on the doors, court summons arrived, assets were frozen, and the staff was dismissed. Noelle's marital home, a lavish mansion she had lived in for barely a day, was seized by the authorities.
She went from being the future lady of the Sanders family to the head of Aethelstan, then from Aethelstan to Mrs. Armstrong, and finally from Mrs. Armstrong to a woman buried in massive debt.
The roles shifted so fast she barely had time to process where she stood in life.
Her husband was running around frantically, pulling strings, begging for capital, and searching for any way out. In the end, he could only return home and turn to Noelle.
"Honey, please help me. I know you have money," Zachary pleaded.
Noelle snatched the documents from his hands and flipped to the last page.
"Are you out of your mind? You expect me to help you pay off this insane amount of money?" she shrieked, slamming the papers onto the floor.
"You're my wife! If you don't help me, who will?" Zachary's expression darkened viciously.
Noelle burst into tears. "Pre-marital debts aren't shared marital obligations!"
Zachary pulled out his phone and shoved his transfer history in her face. From their early dating days to the wedding, they had burned through tens of millions of dollars.
The lavish dowry, the massive diamond ring, the honeymoon, the luxury cars, and the real estate.
Blinded by rage, Noelle lunged at him, pounding her fists against his chest. "You lied to me! You knew your company was failing before we got married! You hid it on purpose! You only married me so I could bail your pathetic family out, didn't you?!"
At first, Zachary didn't fight back, letting her hit him. But as she struck harder, her sharp nails gouged a bloody scratch across his face.
Furious, he shoved her away with a shocking amount of force.
Noelle's lower back slammed into the sharp edge of the coffee table. She doubled over, all color draining from her face as pain radiated through her spine.
Before she could even catch her breath, a vicious slap struck her cheek.
The force threw her head violently to the side.
Her ears rang, and her face burned as if it were on fire.
"Noelle, do I need to remind you exactly what kind of trash you are?" Zachary spat.

The readers' comments on the novel: What She Overheard in Her Own Marriage
Finnian is finally awake to Noelle’s schemes! I hope he cuts the cord completely and brutally. He needs to truly repent and suffer the consequences for all the pain he caused Kaia and his blatant favoritism toward Noelle. Only then should there be even a slight hope of Kaia softening her heart....
