Noelle refused to let this parasitic family bleed her dry.
In just one short week, two-thirds of her savings had vanished.
If she refused to hand over money, Zachary would come home and lock her in the bathroom. He starved her and, instead of hitting her, tormented her psychologically.
Living like this was pure hell.
She fled the marital home and ran back to Pearl's house.
Seeing her daughter return, Pearl's face was lined with anxiety.
"Noelle, how could the Armstrongs go bankrupt so suddenly? Everything looked perfectly fine when you married him."
Noelle let out a bitter scoff. "They were all putting on a show, waiting for me to walk right into their trap. I'm not going to let them bleed me dry. Mom, I'm leaving the country."
Pearl looked at her daughter, her heart breaking with grief.
"Okay. Go. Leave right now, and make sure they never find you."
Noelle turned and bolted upstairs. Minutes later, she dragged a suitcase back down.
"Mom, I'll contact you if anything comes up." Noelle had no time to think about anything else; her only focus was escaping.
She knew full well that this family of scumbags wouldn't let her off the hook so easily.
If they couldn't skin her alive, they would drag her down into the abyss with them, ensuring she never saw another day of peace.
Fleeing was her only option.
It wasn't that she hadn't thought about begging Finnian or the Sanders family for help. But her reputation was so shattered that she couldn't even step foot on their property, and her corporate access had been revoked long ago.
Clutching the last shred of her dignity, Noelle slinked away in absolute defeat.
The airport terminal was practically deserted in the early hours of the morning. She sat huddled in a corner, her head down, the brim of her hat pulled low over her face.
Under the harsh glare of the airport lights, she bought a one-way ticket to Europe.
A woman who had only ever traveled in first class or private jets was now flying economy.
She still had a few social connections in Europe; she would figure things out once she landed.
Her phone vibrated wildly, flooded with urgent debt collection messages.
She was suffocating in her own misery and confusion.
She thought back to how glamorous her life used to be. She was fiercely protected, showered with luxury, and got everything she ever demanded.
Now, she was running and hiding like a stray dog.

The readers' comments on the novel: What She Overheard in Her Own Marriage
Finnian is finally awake to Noelle’s schemes! I hope he cuts the cord completely and brutally. He needs to truly repent and suffer the consequences for all the pain he caused Kaia and his blatant favoritism toward Noelle. Only then should there be even a slight hope of Kaia softening her heart....
Why does this book take so long to update, instead of 5 chapters mentioned above, we are getting about one chapter a day on average! please do not leave the readers on cliffhangers! thank you....
Please update soon. This story is good. And I'm hoping it won't go till 2000 chapters.. Although it's current slow pace is telling....
