Chapter Two Hundred And Fifteen: Stay Away From My Wife’s Office.

Janet stared at the closed door, her brows drawing together slightly. She knew something was off. Her boss is back to the version of himself she used to know. He is cold, detached, and controlled.

Janet let out a small breath and shook her head.

Good morning, ma’am,she said into the phone as she placed the call. “The CEO wants you in his office right away.

She ended the call and leaned back slightly in her chair.

Most people in Auralink had no idea what had really happened. To them, this was just Dreston being Dreston again.

The rest of the morning passed in a blur of meetings and quiet tension. Cassienne tried to focus on her work, but her mind kept drifting back to the way Dreston had kissed her. There was something different in his touch now. Something more certain. She wanted to believe that he was truly choosing her, but the fear that his memory might pull him back to Tina still lingered in the back of her mind.

Meanwhile, in his office, Dreston sat behind his desk, staring at the closed door. The name Mrs. Tremonton Cassienne’s door kept playing in his head. He felt a strange pull toward her, stronger than anything he remembered feeling for Tina. Yet the gaps in his memory frustrated him. He wanted to remember everything. He wanted to understand why his heart beat faster whenever Cassienne was near.

A soft knock sounded on his door.

Come in,he said.

Tina stepped inside, her expression carefully composed. She closed the door behind her and walked

toward his desk.

You wanted to see me?she asked, her voice soft.

Dreston looked at her for a long moment. He remembered liking her. He remembered feeling comfortable with her. But something felt missing now. Something important.

Yes,he said. Please, sit down.

Tina sat in the chair across from him. She crossed her legs and tried to smile. How are you feeling today?she asked.

Better,he replied. But there are still many things I do not remember.

Tina nodded. That is understandable. The doctors said it would take time.

Dreston leaned back in his chair. Tell me something, Tina. You knew that you and I broke up before my accident, yet you came to my house. Why?

Tina’s face paled. She tried to hide her reaction, but Dreston saw it clearly. She looked down at her

hands. I was worried about you. I thought you might need me.

I do not,Dreston said quietly. Not in the way you think.”

Her smile faltered for a fraction of a second. We had a small disagreement, but we worked through it. We always do.

He stood up and walked around the desk. Tina rose to her feet as well, hope flickering in her eyes for a brief moment.

But Dreston stopped a few feet away from her. I do not remember everything yet,he said. But I remember enough to know that something is not right between us. I remember that I chose Cassienne. And right now, my heart is telling me to stay with her.”

Tina’s eyes filled with tears. Dreston, please. We have history. We have been through so much together.

We have,he agreed. But that history does not feel like love anymore. It feels like a mistake I need to correct.

He walked to the door and opened it for her. “I think it is best if you focus on your work from now on,he said. And stay away from my wife’s office.

Tina stood there for a moment, tears slipping down her cheeks. Then she nodded slowly and walked out without another word.

Dreston closed the door behind her and leaned against it for a second. He felt a strange mix of relief and sadness. Part of him still felt lost, but another part felt clearer than it had in days.

He returned to his desk and picked up his phone. He sent a short message to Cassienne.

I miss you already. See you at lunch.

Then he sat down and tried to focus on the reports in front of him. But his mind kept drifting back to the woman in the office down the hall. The woman whose name was written on the door as Mrs. Tremont.
