Chapter Two Hundred And Twenty–one: This Is Not Good.

The morning light filtered softly through the curtains, spreading a quiet warmth across the VVIP hospital suite. The machines continued their steady rhythm, calm and controlled. Cassienne sat beside Dreston’s bed, her fingers gently wrapped around his hand.

She leaned closer to him, her voice soft, filled with a tenderness that had become her routine over the past few days. “Hi, love,” she whispered. “Good morning.”

She smiled faintly, even though his eyes remained closed. “This morning, I just want you to know that I am still here with you. And you are not alone.”

Her thumb moved slowly over his skin as she spoke, as if her touch could reach him where words might fail. “You know that what we have is special,” she continued. “You know that already. And I know that you do not like losing, so I am not worried.”

Her voice softened further. “But without you… I am not complete. So please, take your time, rest well… and come back to me when you are ready.”

She paused, watching his face closely. And there it was. A small movement. His fingers twitched gently against hers.

Cassienne’s lips parted slightly, and a quiet smile followed. That was all she needed. That small response had become her strength.

For three days now, she had lived in this hospital suite, turning it into both her home and her workspace. She did not question it. She did not complain. If anything, she had grown used to it..Because every time she spoke to him, he responded. And that meant he was still there.

She leaned forward and pressed a soft kiss to his forehead. “The doctor is here to take care of you,” she murmured. “I will be right outside, going through some reports. Don’t worry… the company is safe with

me.”

She stood slowly and walked out of the room. As she stepped into the hallway, the doctor was just approaching.

“Keep doing that, Mrs. Tremont,” he said with a gentle smile. “His response to your voice is consistent. That is a very good sign.”

Cassienne nodded. “Thank you, doctor.”

She walked past him, and the nurses greeted her respectfully as she returned to the sitting area of the suite. The door behind her closed softly.

For a brief second, she leaned against it and let out a deep breath.

Then she straightened and walked to the desk.

Her laptop was already open, documents arranged neatly, her phone placed beside it. She reached for it, about to make a call, when the main door opened.

Daisy and Aurora walked in.

Cassienne looked up immediately, and a genuine smile appeared on her face. “Thank God you are here.”

Aurora walked forward first. “Of course we are here,” she said warmly. “We are not leaving you to go through this alone. And I promise you, in no time, Dreston will be back on his feet.”

“He will,” Daisy added confidently as she dropped the bag she was carrying onto the kitchen island. She turned back toward them with a small grin. “Now, who is hungry?”

Cassienne raised her hand slightly. “I just want the sandwich I ordered. And fruit juice.”

“Noted,” Daisy said as she began unpacking the bag.

Cassienne stepped away from the desk and moved to the lounge chair. She sank into it slowly, her body finally allowing itself to rest for a moment.

Aurora sat beside her. “How is he this morning?” she asked gently.

Cassienne looked ahead for a second before replying. “He is the same. Whenever I talk to him, his fingers move. I think he can hear me.”

Her voice was calm, but there was something tight beneath it.

Aurora reached out and touched her arm. “I believe that too. So do not lose hope.”

Daisy returned with a tray and placed it carefully on the glass table. “Eat first,” she said.

Cassienne picked up the glass of juice and took a slow sip before setting it down. “Are you both not eating?” she asked.

“We will eat later,” Daisy replied. “But you are not allowed to have coffee.”

Cassienne sighed softly. “I know you both love coffee. I am sorry-”

“Stop that,” Aurora interrupted immediately. “Your health comes first. We can drink coffee anywhere else. We are not about to let you start throwing up here.”

That made Cassienne laugh softly.

Daisy folded her arms and looked at her. “Honestly, tell me,” she said. “How does it feel to be pregnant?”

Cassienne blinked, slightly surprised.

Aurora turned sharply to Daisy. “And why are you asking that?” she asked with a knowing look. “Are you planning something?”

Cassienne chuckled quietly.

Daisy rolled her eyes. “I am a woman. One day, I will have my own family.”
