Chapter Three Hundred And Twenty-Four: My Childhood Love
Dreston nodded with understanding. He wanted her to hear it naturally. He didn’t want any surprises. But now, things are different.
The conference room doors finally opened.
And the moment Dreston walked inside, camera flashes exploded instantly. The atmosphere was overwhelming.
Reporters standing. Questions already flying. Live cameras broadcasting. Journalists pushing forward.
But Dreston remained completely composed. He looked cold and well in control.
He reached the podium calmly while the noise continued around him. Then finally, he lifted one hand slightly.
The room slowly went into silence. Dreston looked across the reporters evenly before speaking. “For months now,” he began calmly, “there have been countless rumors surrounding my family, my personal life, and several people I care about deeply.”
Silence settled across the room immediately.
Dreston continued. “Normally, I ignore gossip. However, recent events have crossed beyond harmless speculation into public harassment.”
Several reporters exchanged quick glances.
“Particularly toward my wife.”
The room visibly reacted to the word. “Wife.”
Dreston ignored the reaction completely. “There have been false narratives involving Cassienne Rhodes, Corren Thornwyck, Tina Ackley, and even members of our extended social circle. So today, I’m here to clarify those lies personally.”
There was no hesitation or embarrassment in his words. Just certainty.
At Nerox Technology, Cassienne Rhodes stood frozen inside Jeff Sandler’s office while the live conference played across the large television screen mounted against the wall.
Around her, several staff members had gone completely silent.
Even Jeff himself looked stunned.
Cassienne stared at Dreston on the screen without moving. He was really doing this.
And publicly.
At Auralink, one reporter finally raised her hand quickly.
“Mr. Tremont, if you were already married to Miss Rhodes, then why did you publicly become engaged to Miss Tina Ackley?”
The room became still immediately. Even the cameras seemed to hold their breath.
Dreston looked directly toward the reporter calmly.
Then answered. “Because we were dealing with an enemy we could not identify.”
The room erupted instantly. Questions exploded everywhere.

“What do you mean by enemy?”
“Are you saying the engagement was fake?”
“Was Tina Ackley involved?”
“Was Cassienne Rhodes aware?”
Dreston raised one hand again. The room quieted slowly. “Yes,” he said evenly. “The engagement was part of larger strategy involving threats directed toward my family and my wife.”
Gasps spread visibly now.
Dreston continued before anyone could interrupt again. “Tina Ackley cooperated with us under difficult circumstances. Certain public appearances and narratives were intentionally maintained while we investigated matters privately.”
The reporters looked completely stunned now.
“But understand this clearly,” Dreston added calmly. “Not everything can be explained publicly yet because the danger surrounding this situation still exists.”
At Nerox Technology, Cassienne slowly sat down without realizing it. Her heart was beating harder now because she knew exactly what was coming next.
And somehow, that terrified her more than the rumors ever did.
Back inside the conference room, another reporter stood quickly.
“Mr. Tremont, what exactly is your relationship with Miss Rhodes now?”
Dreston looked directly toward the cameras. And for the first time since entering the room, something softened in his expression. It was real love. The kind impossible to fake.
“Cassienne Rhodes,” he said quietly, “was my childhood love.”
The entire room became silent.
At Nerox, Jeff slowly looked toward Cassienne.
She could not move. Because she wasn’t expecting him to go that far.
Dreston continued. “She was my teenage love.”
The words landed harder this time. And somehow, every person watching could feel it.
Dreston lowered his eyes briefly before looking back toward the cameras again. “And now…” A faint smile touched his face. “…she is my beloved wife carrying our unborn child.’
Complete chaos exploded inside the conference room. Questions and shouting at once with camera flashes filled the entire room.
Some reporters were visibly stunned. While others are already typing frantically.
At Nerox Technology, one of Cassienne’s assistants gasped loudly behind her.
But Cassienne barely heard any of it. Because her chest felt painfully tight suddenly.
Beloved wife.

Dreston had never spoken about her publicly like that before.
Never.
