Chapter Fifty–Four: Please, Tell Us What You Saw.
“We are getting married in a few months.”
Tina smiled brightly as she spoke to the reporter standing in front of her. Cameras flashed nonstop. Microphones were pushed closer to her face. She stood confidently in front of the Auralink System building, looking calm and proud, as if the words she had just spoken were the most natural thing in the world.
Dreston watched the broadcast on his phone.
His jaw clenched so hard it hurt.
For a moment, he couldn’t breathe properly. His fingers tightened around the phone, and his chest felt heavy. This was not how he planned for things to come out. Not like this. Not without his consent.
Almost immediately, his phone started ringing.
One call.
Then another.
Then messages began pouring in nonstop.
He didn’t answer any of them.
He didn’t need to check the messages to know what they were about. Congratulations. Questions. Shock. Probably
pressure.
He had woken up to the news that morning, and within minutes, it had already gone viral.
But strangely, the first person that came to his mind wasn’t Tina.
It was Emily.
Fear gripped him instantly.
Without wasting time, the very first call he made while on his way to the office was to Doctor Marvin. The line connected after a few rings.
“Hello, Mr. Tremont. How are you today?” the doctor asked politely.
Dreston let out a deep sigh before replying. “I’m fine, doctor. Please… I need to ask you for a favor.”
There was a short pause from the doctor’s side.
“Yes, go ahead,” Doctor Marvin replied.
“Please,” Dreston said carefully, “can you make sure that Emily does not have access to any devices? No television. No phone.”
The doctor was silent for a moment again as she didn’t understand where the conversation was healing.
“I don’t know why you are asking for this,” she finally said, “but Mrs. Rhodes is not allowed to watch television
or use a cell phone. We are very careful with her. Anything she sees could trigger her condition. She is only allowed to read recommended books.”
Dreston closed his eyes and released the breath he had been holding.
“Thank you,” he said softly. “I truly appreciate this.”

“You’re welcome, Mr. Tremont. Anytime,” the doctor replied.
And the call ended.
Dreston lowered his phone and stared ahead.
At least Emily was safe. As for his parents?
He would deal with them later.

Dreston walked into his office building with his two bodyguards right behind him. Steve walked beside him, matching his steps.
The moment staff members saw him, smiles spread across their faces.
“Congratulations, sir.”
“Congratulations!”
More greetings followed as he walked past them.
But Dreston didn’t respond. He didn’t smile and he didn’t even look at them.
He was so angry.
Not because he didn’t love Tina. No, that wasn’t it. Tina had always been the woman he wanted. The woman his heart chose. If his parents had agreed from the beginning, he would never have married Cassienne.
But this?
What Tina did was wrong. It was so wrong.
If he was going to marry anyone, he should be the one to announce it. Not wake up to see it on the news like every other person.
The elevator doors opened, and he stepped in with Steve and the bodyguards. The doors closed quietly, and the ride up was silent.
At Coralreach, the atmosphere was completely different.
The development team was buzzing with excitement.
The news of Dreston’s marriage was the hottest topic of the morning.
“So the handsome man who saved Miss Rhodes is finally taken?” Anna said dramatically, placing a hand on her chest. “This is heartbreaking.”
She pouted, clearly disappointed.
Daisy rolled her eyes.
Yes, Dreston was handsome. Anyone could see that. And yes, many women would want him. But Daisy knew something none of them knew.
She knew what he had done to Cassienne for five long, painful years.

“Guys,” someone suddenly said loudly, “I have an update about our hot tech billionaire.”
Everyone turned toward the voice.
And itt was Nate.
She was smiling widely, clearly enjoying the attention.
Nate walked confidently toward the group, almost like she was on a runway. It was still early morning, and work hadn’t fully started, so gossip was welcome.
When she reached Anna’s desk, where most of them had gathered, she paused and smiled again.
“Well,” she said slowly, enjoying the suspense, “I just got some classified information.”
Gasps followed immediately.
“It turns out,” Nate continued, “that the tech billionaire divorced his wife not too long ago. And guess why?”
Everyone leaned in.
“Because of the woman he is about to marry now.”
The hall erupted.
“What?”
“He was married before?”
“Who would divorce such a handsome man?”
Questions flew from every direction.
Daisy crossed her arms, her expression dark.
“Does it really matter?” she said sharply. “We have work to do. If the boss sees you gossiping this early, he won’t be happy.”
Nate rolled her eyes at Daisy.
“I guess you all want to know who that woman was, right?” she asked with a smirk.
Everyone nodded eagerly.
“This is disgusting,” Daisy snapped. “You actually enjoy doing this?”
She turned and walked away to get coffee.
“Please tell us,” Anna begged. “Who is she?”
Nate smiled wider.
“It’s Miss Rhodes,” she said proudly. “Our new boss.”
Silence followed. Shock spread across the hall and no one spoke.
No one moved.
“What?” Anna finally whispered. “Miss Rhodes is divorced?”
