All.
The hall was dead silent now. No one moved, no one dared to lift their head.
The air felt heavy, the tension was high. Everyone avoided Cassienne’s eyes, their heads bowed low, pretending to be very busy with their desks and screens.
Cassienne stood calmly at the center of the hall, her posture straight, her arms folded across her chest. Her face showed no anger, but her silence alone was terrifying.
“We are waiting, Nate,” Cassienne said quietly, but her voice carried authority. “Tell us exactly what you saw.”
Nate swallowed hard. She couldn’t speak.
Her eyes were fixed on the shiny marble floor beneath her feet, as if it had suddenly become the most interesting thing in the world. Her fingers trembled slightly at her sides. Just minutes ago, she had been smiling, talking loudly, enjoying the attention. Now, her confidence had vanished completely.
No words came out of her mouth. The silence stretched again.
But the sound of a door opening broke the silence. Everyone turned their heads at once.
It was Daisy.
She walked in holding a mug of coffee, completely relaxed. But the moment she saw Cassienne standing in the middle of the hall and noticed that everyone was seated except Nate, who stood frozen with her head down, Daisy understood everything.
Daisy burst into laughter.
It was loud and funny, cutting through the tension.
She raised one brow and looked straight at Nate, though Nate couldn’t see her because her head was still lowered.
“Good morning, Cass,” Daisy said cheerfully. “I must say, you’re very popular today. I’ve heard so many interesting stories about you this morning. Truly creative lies. Almost impressive, don’t you think?”
Cassienne shot Daisy a sharp glare.
Daisy lifted both hands in surrender immediately. “Alright, alright. I’ll stay out of it.”
And she did. She walked back to her seat and took a slow sip of her coffee, watching quietly.
At that moment, the elevator chimed. Footsteps echoed through the hall.
Everyone stiffened.
When the footsteps got closer, heads slowly lifted.
It was Corren, the CEO.
Merrick walked beside him. And Florence followed closely behind too.
No one greeted them. No “good morning.” No smiles. The tension in the air was too thick for words.
Cassienne didn’t turn around. She didn’t need to. She already knew who had entered.
Corren scanned the room calmly, trying to understand what was happening. He could feel that something was wrong, but he didn’t interrupt.

He noticed two things immediately.
Cassienne was standing with her arms crossed, calm but angry. And Nate was standing opposite her, head bowed, looking guilty.
Corren understood instantly that Nate was the problem. He decided to stay silent. So did Merrick.
Cassienne finally moved.
She stepped closer to Nate, her heels clicking softly against the marble floor. Each step was slow and controlled, sending chills through everyone watching.
“You were smiling earlier,” Cassienne said. “You were so proud. You gathered everyone around and spoke boldly to them.”
She walked in a small circle around Nate.
“So tell me,” she continued, “what changed?”
Nate’s lips trembled, but no sound came out. Then, Cassienne stopped walking. Her patience snapped.
“Oh, I remember now,” Cassienne said coldly. “You said I don’t deserve my position, didn’t you? You said I got it by sleeping with Corren.”
A sharp gasp filled the hall.
“What?” Merrick exclaimed immediately. “She said that?”
Corren remained silent, his face unreadable. He watched Cassienne closely, trusting her to handle the situation,
Florence’s mouth fell open. Inside, she was thrilled. She loved drama. And more than that, she hated Cassienne.
Florence was convinced there was something between Cassienne and Corren. She had no proof yet, but she believed it deeply.
“And you also said,” Cassienne continued, her voice calm but dangerous, “that you know what you saw.”
She looked Nate straight in the eyes now.
“So tell everyone. Don’t protect me. Tell them exactly what you saw between me and Corren. Please.”
The hall erupted with gasps.
“If you do,” Cassienne added, “I will gladly step down from my position.”
Shock froze everyone.
“I… I’m sorry,” Nate finally whispered. “I’m truly sorry, ma’am.”
“Unbelievable,” Anna muttered, though everyone heard her
“I shouldn’t have said things I didn’t know,” Nate said quickly, panic creeping into her voice. “I’m sorry. It won’t happen again.”
Cassienne turned away from her slowly.
“Of course it won’t happen again,” Cassienne said. “Because you will submit your resignation to the boss with immediate effect.”

The words hit Nate like a striking thunder. She couldn’t believe what Cassienne just said.
“I cannot work with a toxic person,” Cassienne continued. “This company deserves better.”
She walked away, her heels echoing loudly down the hall.
No one spoke. No one moved.
Corren and Merrick followed her silently, heading toward their offices.
But Florence stood frozen.
Who did Cassienne think she was? Ordering someone to resign? She scoffed quietly.
She didn’t like Nate. Nate had once dated Corren, and Florence hated any woman who had been close to him. But what she hated more was that Cassienne had power. And power Florence didn’t have.
With a tight jaw, Florence turned and walked away without a word.
Daisy finally stood up, but didn’t leave her desk area. 1
“I warned you,” Daisy said calmly. “But you never listen. You spread lies, fed people nonsense, and now look at you. What a shame.”
Nate stood shaking. Her mind was spinning. Resign? Just like that? Her eyes darkened. Tears gathered, but she blinked them away.
If she was going to resign, it wouldn’t be like this. Not without a fight. After all, she knew something others didn’t.
