When Love Finds Its Way Back (Cassienne and Dreston) novel Chapter 61

Chapter SixtyOne: She’s The Real Deal Now.

Okaythis is new,Daisy said slowly, folding her arms. You didn’t say anything about going back to your ex.

Her playful tone disappeared. Her face turned serious. I thought you were done with that chapter of your life.

Daisy was the closest person to Cassienne. She knew everything. She knew how Cassienne had suffered in that marriage. She knew how Dreston treated her like she was invisible, like she didn’t matter. Five long years of neglect, silence, and loneliness.

Daisy would never support Cassienne going back to that man. Never.

And who said I’m going back to him?Cassienne replied calmly. He offered me a job, and I accepted because it’s good for my career. That’s all.

She spoke casually, almost dramatically, as if the matter was very simple.

It’s just business, Daisy. Nothing more.

Daisy was not yet convinced.

She narrowed her eyes and watched Cassienne closely as she continued browsing through the clothes racks, touching fabrics and checking sizes like nothing serious was happening.

So,Daisy said slowly, you’re going to work under Tina now? Is that what you want?

Her tone carried clear disapproval.

Cassienne stopped what she was doing. She turned and went to sit beside Aurora, who had been watching the exchange with quiet amusement.

Who said I’ll be working under Tina?Cassienne asked calmly.

Daisy blinked. Isn’t it obvious?she replied. You said it yourself. Tina is the Director of Engineering.

That’s correct.

Then tell me,Daisy pressed on, if she’s already in that office, what exactly will you be doing there?

Cassienne smirked.

That small smile made Daisy pause.

WaitDaisy said slowly. Her eyes narrowed, her head tilting slightly as realization began to form. Then her brows shot up.

Oh my God.

She gasped.

No way,Daisy whispered, then suddenly screamed, YOU’RE THE CTO?!

Her eyes widened like they were about to pop out.

Cassienne only wiggled her brows and smiled mischievously.

The scream that followed from Daisy was so loud that everyone in the boutique turned to stare. Some even covered their ears.

Daisy!Aurora snapped. What is wrong with you?

Daisy jumped up, rushed over, and threw herself at both women, kissing their cheeks excitedly.

That is HUGE!she exclaimed. Do you even understand how big this is?

She finally returned to her seat, shaking her head in disbelief.

I can’t believe this,Daisy continued. Dreston made you the CTO of Auralink Systems? Do you know how powerful that position is?

Cassienne smiled softly but said nothing.

Yes, she knows,Aurora replied proudly. That’s why we’re changing her wardrobe.

She gestured at the dresses around them.

So now that you understand, help me pick clothes. She’s not just a genius anymore.

Aurora smiled.

She’s the real deal now.

On Monday morning, Dreston was already waiting outside Cassienne’s apartment building. His car was parked by the curb, the engine running quietly, as if it had been there for a while.

The moment Cassienne stepped out of the building, Dreston opened the car door and got out.

He straightened slowly, his eyes fixed on her.

For a brief moment, he felt like he was seeing her for the first time.

Cassienne looked nothing like the woman he had lived with for five long years. She was dressed in a deep blue, elegant dress that hugged her figure perfectly, simple yet powerful. The fabric moved smoothly with every step she took. Her hair was pulled neatly into a high ponytail, exposing her long, graceful neck. Her legs were bare and confident, her steps firm and steady. Her lips were painted a bold red, adding a quiet confidence to her entire presence.

Dreston felt something stir in his chest.

He barely recognised her.

Cassienne walked up to the car and smiled politely. Good morning, she greeted him.

Good morning, Cassienne,Dreston replied, then added honestly, You look good.

Cassienne raised one brow slightly. She hadn’t expected a compliment from him, not so easily. But she didn’t hide

her reaction.

Thank you,she said. Shall we?

Dreston gestured toward the car. She climbed in and settled comfortably into the seat. Dreston sat beside her and closed the door. Moments later, the driver pulled away from the curb.

Cassienne glanced around briefly before speaking. No bodyguards today?

Dreston chuckled softly. I’m sure they’re discreetly following behind us,he replied. Sometimes they operate

that way.

Cassienne nodded in understanding, then turned to look out the window, watching the city come alive as they drove through the busy roads. 1

When the car finally stopped in front of the Auralink Systems building, Cassienne’s heart skipped.

She wasn’t sure she was ready.

These were the same people who once looked past her, who never saw her as important. The same people who whispered behind her back. The same place where Tina had spread lies about her, turning her into a subject of quiet ridicule.

Her chest tightened.

Then she felt Dreston’s hand brush gently against hers.

She turned to look at him, and the calm smile on his face steadied her. Something about that simple gesture gave her strength. She smiled back, more confident now.

The driver stepped out quickly and opened the door, bowing his head respectfully.

Dreston stepped out first, then turned back to her and held out his hand.

Come,he said quietly. Let’s go.

Cassienne placed her hand in his. He helped her out of the car, slowly.

What Cassienne didn’t notice was that several directors were already standing outside the building, waiting.

Six men.

Men she knew very well.

They were her former seniors, men she once respected deeply. Men who had once spoken over her, corrected her, and dismissed her ideas. One person, however, was missing.

Tina Ackley.

Welcome, Mrs. Tremont, one of the directors said with a polite smile. We’re delighted to receive you once again.
