This time, Tina did not argue with her mother. Not because she agreed with her. But because she felt tired.
Tired of explaining. She felt tired of hearing the same truth she was not ready to accept. And she was tired of pretending that this conversation would change anything.
She calmly placed her cutlery down. The soft clink of metal against the plate broke the silence at the table. Tina wiped her mouth gently and stood up.
She stepped closer to her parents and bent down, placing a light kiss on her mother’s cheek, then her father’s.
“Good night, Mom. Good night, Dad,” she said softly.
Then she turned and walked away, climbing the stairs without looking back.
As soon as Tina disappeared upstairs, Siara turned to her husband.
“I think she knows,” Siara said quietly.
Gerald continued eating, his face unreadable.
“I’m certain of it,” Siara went on, worry filling her voice. “She knows we’re hiding something from her. And that scares me.”
Gerald finally looked up. “Why?” he asked. “What exactly are we hiding?”
He set his fork down.
“Even without us saying anything, she should have known that those people would never accept her into their family. I don’t even understand why she keeps clinging to that man.”
He shook his head slowly.
“This is not just about his parents. It’s about him.”
Siara frowned. “What do you mean?”
Gerald leaned back in his chair. “It’s simple,” he said. “Dreston is a man. He knows what he wants.”
He paused.
“And I am sure his parents were not the main reason he didn’t marry Tina. There is more to it than what we know. Everything about that man is confusing.”
Siara sighed. “I’m lost.”
Gerald’s voice lowered. “Dreston loves his wife. He just doesn’t know it yet.”
Siara froze.
“Oh,” she said slowly. “That… that I already figured out.”
She sighed deeply.
“I just hope Tina realizes it soon, so she can move on. I don’t even like the idea that she’s working for him.”
Upstairs, Tina stood still. Every word reached her ears. But the one that pierced her heart the most was this:

“So,” Aurora said playfully, holding up a dress, “are you two getting back together?”
Cassienne raised a brow. “No. We are not. Don’t twist things.”
Aurora laughed. She was helping Cassienne pick out clothes for her new office. The boutique was calm, soft music playing in the background.
“I only accepted the job offer,” Cassienne continued. “I believe he now values my talent. That’s all.”
“Mmm,” Aurora hummed thoughtfully. “Look at this one.”
She held up a beautiful blue dress.
“It’s lovely. And it will fit your curves perfectly.”
Cassienne smiled. She clearly liked it.
“So,” Aurora continued teasingly, “what kind of relationship do you and Dreston have now?”
Cassienne turned and looked at her friend. Her smile softened.
“I know you care about me,” she said gently. “But Dreston and I are over.”
Then she paused.
“I accepted the job because Auralink has always been my dream company. I know I’ll do well there. And besides… Dreston doesn’t want me back.”
She shrugged lightly.
“He loves Tina. We’re just friends now. That’s all.”
Aurora studied her for a moment, then shrugged.
“If you say so,” she said with a smile. “I wish you all the best, my love.”
She pulled Cassienne into a tight hug. “I love you.”
Cassienne laughed softly and hugged her back. “I love you too.”
“Well, well,” a voice came from the door. “I love the two of you already.”
It was Daisy.
She stood there with a mischievous smile on her face.
“What did I miss?” she asked.
Cassienne pulled away from Aurora and rolled her eyes. “Oh great. You’re here.”
“Hey babes!” Aurora grinned. “You came?”
“Of course I did,” Daisy replied dramatically. “You think I would miss this moment?”
