Chapter Seventy–Five: A Woman Attacked Me.
“If Tina was in the club, why didn’t she look for me?” Dreston said, his brows furrowing. “I’m sorry, but Tina never misses a chance to see me. That’s not like her at all.”
Aurora answered immediately, shaking her head. “That was exactly what I thought too when I first saw someone who looked like her. But when I got a clearer look, it was her. She was in the club–and she looked like she was running away from something.”
Silence fell over the group as everyone tried to piece the fragments together.
“It still doesn’t make sense,” Dreston finally broke the silence. “Why would Tina pretend to be someone else? She loves attention. She loves being seen wherever she goes.”
“Unless she was there to see someone,” Daisy said thoughtfully, “and didn’t want to be recognized.”
That possibility only deepened the tension.
“I’m sorry, I need to get back to work,” Ray said suddenly, still standing. “I’m still on duty. But before I go–let me say this.” He glanced at Dreston. “Whoever attacked Cassienne, it couldn’t have been Tina. Once Cassienne wakes up and recovers a bit, she’ll be able to tell you herself. I’m sure she’ll recognize her attacker.”
After saying his piece, Ray shook hands with his friends and the ladies before leaving.
Everything felt heavier after that.
“None of this adds up,” Garry said. “Why hide her identity? Why avoid you? There’s no way Tina didn’t know you were in the club tonight.”
Aurora’s voice dropped to a whisper. “Maybe… maybe I was wrong.
Daisy immediately pulled her into a hug, rubbing her back soothingly. “Hey, don’t do that to yourself.”
“Maybe,” Garry added gently. “Maybe the woman you saw only looked like Tina.”
But Dreston had gone quiet.
Not because he didn’t believe Aurora. But because the situation confused him.
Something about the entire situation didn’t sit right with him. One thing, however, remained painfully clear- Cassienne had been attacked in that club. And he refused to let that slide.
He stepped away from the group, pulled out his phone, and made a call.
The moment the line connected, his voice dropped. “Steve,” he said sharply. “My wife was attacked at Lux Haven tonight. I need you to investigate immediately. No delays.”
He ended the call without waiting for a response.
Whoever was behind this would be found. And when he found them, they would regret ever laying a hand on Cassienne.
Just then, a nurse approached him.
“Mr. Tremont,” she said politely. “You may see Mrs. Tremont now. She’s in Private Ward 3F.”
“Thank you,” Dreston replied.

He didn’t wait for anyone else. He turned and walked away immediately.
Garry exchanged a look with Daisy and Aurora, and without a word, they followed behind him.

The room was spacious, quiet, and carefully designed for VIP patients. Soft lights glowed from the walls, and the steady hum of medical equipment filled the room. Cassienne lay on the bed, an IV line inserted into her arm, her head wrapped in fresh bandages. Her clothes had been replaced with a pale hospital gown, and a heart monitor sat beside her bed, beeping rhythmically.
Her eyes were open when Dreston walked in, though she didn’t turn to look at him. Instead, her gaze remained fixed on the empty ceiling above her, unfocused and distant.
Without saying a word, Dreston went to the sink in the corner of the room. He turned on the faucet and washed his hands thoroughly, scrubbing with soap until the dried blood on his skin disappeared. When he was done, he used the hand dryer, then reached for the sanitizer, rubbing it into his palms with carefulness. Only then did he move to her side.
The moment Cassienne sensed his presence, she tore her eyes away from the ceiling and looked at him.
Tears gathered instantly in her eyes, her lips trembling as she struggled to keep her emotions in check.
Dreston sat down beside her at once, taking her free hand in his. He shook his head slowly, guilt etched deeply into his expression.
“Please, don’t,” he said softly. “I’m sorry you were alone. I should have protected you.”
Cassienne sniffed and shook her head. “It’s not your fault,” she whispered. “Don’t blame yourself.”
He didn’t let go of her hand. His grip remained gentle, yet his jaw was clenched tightly, fury simmering beneath his face.
After a moment of silence, she finally spoke. “A woman attacked me,” she said quietly. “I don’t know who she was. I couldn’t see her face clearly… but I’m sure she was a woman.”
“My men are already looking into it,” Dreston said firmly, squeezing her hand. “They’ll find whoever did this. For now, just focus on getting better.”
“But why would anyone attack me?” Cassienne asked, confusion clouding her voice. “It doesn’t make sense.”
She was right–and Dreston felt the same unease. Cassienne wasn’t someone who provoked others. She didn’t make enemies. There was no obvious reason for anyone to target her.
“My ribs hurt a lot,” she added softly. “But Dr. Ray said nothing is broken.”
“I know,” Dreston replied, his voice deep. “And I’m so sorry.” He apologized again, unable to stop himself.
She looked at him then and offered a faint smile. His expression softened slightly, but the anger never fully left his eyes. The thought of someone laying a hand on her still burned fiercely inside him.
He replayed the situation in his mind, turning it over from every angle. A competitor? Was that possible? Or… had someone already discovered her identity?
