Chapter NinetySix: Love Triangle.

This year’s Global Tech Expo was unlike any other. It was hosted at an exclusive, selfcontained destination reserved only for the world’s eliteThe Lisbourn Royal Resorts.

The skies above the resort were alive.

Helicopters hovered and descended in steady succession, their polished blades slicing through the air with a sharp, commanding rhythm.

The helipad bustled with controlled chaosrotors slowing, security teams moving in perfect coordination, executives stepping down with the confidence of people who owned industries rather than companies.

One after another, the world’s most powerful tech giants arrived.

Jeff Sandler was among the first to be spotted. He stepped down from his helicopter flanked by several senior executives, all dressed in tailored suits, their expressions were calm, cold, and unreadable.

They moved with purpose, men who didn’t announce power because they embodied it. No one doubted that these were people you didn’t cross lightly.

Security personnel dressed in black and white formed a seamless wall of order, guiding guests through designated passages. Every movement was deliberately calculated. Every entrance was controlled.

Luxury cars followed, logos flashing briefly on doors before executives stepped out, composed, observant, and alert. At every checkpoint, badges were scanned, identities verified, access granted only after layered security checks.

No mistakes were allowed.

Inside the resort lobby, the atmosphere buzzed with restrained excitement. CEOs exchanged brief handshakes, CTOS nodded in recognition, and short conversations sparked, some polite, some strategic, while some were already edging toward negotiations.

Tina arrived beside Dreston, walking in perfect sync with him, looking every inch the executive partner. Her arm rested lightly against his, her smile confident, and her posture impeccable. From the outside, they looked like a flawless couple, successful, and untouchable.

But they weren’t alone.

Across the lobby, Cassienne stood a little apart, deeply engaged in conversation with a group of executives. She was animated, her hands moving slightly as she spoke, her expression focused and intelligent. She wasn’t trying to impress anyone, she didn’t need to. The people around her were listening intently, drawn in by her ideas.

Jeff Sandler however, noticed her immediately.

His steady eyes moved between Dreston and Cassienne. Though they weren’t standing together, he recognized the invisible thread connecting themthe subtle awareness, the unspoken familiarity. They belonged to the same company, yes, but his instincts told him it went deeper than that.

And his goal was clear.

NULLWRAITH.

He believed the truth was close, perhaps closer than anyone realized. Whether it was Dreston or Cassienne, he was certain the answer stood somewhere between them.

As the lobby slowly emptied, guests were guided to their respective lounges. The most important figures were ushered into the VIP loungea refined space reserved for CEOS, CTOS, sponsors, and key organizers.

The room was elegant and understated. Plush seating arranged in clusters. Low conversations layered over soft background music. Deals were already being hinted at, alliances quietly tested.

Merrick and Corren stood near one corner, engaged in a serious discussion with a group of investors. Their body language showed intent, this was not small talk. This was groundwork.

Cassienne sat alone on one of the sofas, her legs crossed gracefully, her tablet balanced on her lap. Her eyes were glued to the screen as she reviewed schedules, presentations, and internal notes. To her, this was still just the arrival day. The real battle hadn’t started yet.

They were expected to settle into their private lodges first. Later that evening, the welcoming gala would officially open the expo, a night of speeches, networking, and deliberate friendly interactiondesigned to soften competition into collaboration.

For now, things were calm. But eyes were always watching.

Jeff Sandler noticed Corren approaching Cassienne.

He frowned slightly, not understanding anything.

For all he knew, Cassienne worked for Auralink System, not Coralreach. Yet Corren stood close to her, speaking in a low voice. Whatever he said made Cassienne laugh softly, and genuinely.

The sound was light and unforced.

Even Dreston saw it too.

A flicker of anger crossed his face. It was sharp and quick, but he controlled it just as swiftly. This wasn’t the place for emotion. Instead, he turned his attention to a group of investors who had cornered him, pulling himself fully into a business discussion.

Jeff, meanwhile, found himself pulled into another conversation as well, but his eyes kept drifting back to the

same scene.

Cassienne. Corren. Dreston.

Understanding dawned slowly. So that’s it. A love triangle.

Jeff lifted his champagne flute, a small smile playing at his lips as he took a measured sip. Personal entanglements always complicate things, and complications create opportunities.

That evening, long before the gala began, Cassienne was already inside her private suite.

The room was spacious, elegant, and warm. Floortoceiling windows offering a breathtaking view of the resort grounds. She stood by the open closet, arranging her belongings with quiet efficiency. They would be staying for a full week, and she preferred order.

She removed a garment bag carefully and revealed the dress Aurora had prepared for tonight.
