Chapter 391 A Dangerous Conversation
Chapter 391 A Dangerous Conversation
Loretta’s words left Jensen momentarily stunned.
Rachel?
She was the Stone family’s housekeeper?
If what Loretta said was true, didn’t that mean Mr. and Mrs. Stone were in danger?
They were the parents Natalie had gone through so much to finally reunite with.

Although nothing in public suggested Natalie had shown them any special affection, Jensen had been with her for five years and knew how deeply she longed for the warmth and protection of family.
He couldn’t let Natalie be heartbroken again.
Thinking this, he was about to call the Stone family when he suddenly froze.
Wait a second. Rachel?
An image flashed through his mind–Loretta and Rachel meeting in secret at a hotel.
Loretta knew Rachel, yet now she was suddenly warning him about her. Why?
Jensen immediately called Loretta.
“Mom, I once saw you meeting that Rachel in private. Are you two friends? Now you’re telling me she wants to harm the Stone family—are you really saying this out of concern for Natalie, or is there some other reason?”
Loretta had just been savoring her success in pitting Jensen and Rachel, mother and son, against each other when his call came in.
She thought he would speak to her warmly, like a dutiful son, but instead, the first thing out of his mouth was an interrogation.
What did he just say?
He’d seen her meeting Rachel?
Impossible!

Loretta’s heart skipped a beat.
“Jensen, were you following me?”

Her voice turned sharp as her mind spun. If he had been tailing her, did he overhear their conversation? Did he know the truth about his birth?
Jensen hadn’t expected such a reaction.
He hurriedly explained. “Mom, how could I ever follow you? I told you, I stumbled across it by accident. You looked secretive, so I just followed for a moment because I was worried about your safety. I never meant to spy on you.”
“You brat, who are you calling secretive?”
Loretta snapped in irritation.
Jensen quickly softened his tone.
“Mom, I was wrong, I really was. Don’t be angry. But I did overhear a little. I thought I heard you and Rachel talking about Natalie being switched at birth twenty–some years ago. Mom, do you know something about that?”
This was a question he had wanted to ask for a long time but never found the chance.
Loretta frowned slightly.
“That’s all
you
heard?”
“Yeah. What else would there be?”
A trace of relief crossed her heart.
“It’s nothing. I do know a bit, but now isn’t the time to talk about it. If you really want to know, once you bring Natalie back safely, bring her to me and I’ll tell her what happened back then myself.”
Jensen’s face lit up.
“Really? Mom, you’ll really tell Natalie the truth about being switched at birth?”
“You silly child, you’re my son. Since you love her so much, there’s no need for me to keep it from her. But are you truly serious this time? Do you really want to be with Natalie? Jensen, you have to understand–Natalie’s status isn’t ordinary anymore. If you’re going to treat her like you did before, half–heartedly, I advise you not to chase her out to the open seas.”

That reversal instantly made Jensen nervous.

“Mom, I’ve always been serious about Natalie–you know that. I haven’t had another woman in all these years. With my position, plenty of women have thrown themselves at me, but I turned them all away. Doesn’t that prove my heart? It was only because Sharon tricked me into thinking Natalie had betrayed me that I tormented her for five years. But now I know the truth, and I know everything Natalie did for me. How could I ever waver again? For the rest of my life, I’ll marry no one but Natalie!”
Jensen practically wanted to rip his heart open and lay it bare before Loretta.
To him, once Loretta acknowledged Natalie’s identity, there would be no real obstacles between them.
After all, his father had passed away years ago.
Loretta had inherited all of Mr. Luke’s shares and property, giving her full authority in the company and the family.
As long as she agreed to let Natalie enter the family as his second wife, no one else in the Luke family would dare oppose it.
But the thought of Natalie still bound to Baron filled him with bitterness.
Natalie should belong to him alone.
