Chapter 504: The Exchange
“Give me back my daughter! What exactly do you want from us?” Xenon’s wife struggled desperately, her voice trembling with fear, but no matter how hard she fought, she couldn’t break free from the firm grip holding her.
Xenon stood frozen, watching helplessly as the man dressed in black handed their infant daughter over to the masked figure. The moment the masked man took Yvonne into his arms, the baby suddenly began to cry, her tiny wails piercing the tense air.
Xenon’s wife’s heart shattered into pieces at the sound.
“Please… just give me my child back,” she pleaded, tears streaming down her face. “Whatever grudges or disputes you have with us, let the adults settle them. Please, don’t harm my baby.”
The masked man’s eyes flickered with irritation at Yvonne’s crying. A cold, displeased glint flashed across his gaze. “This child is quite a handful,” he muttered darkly. “Maybe I should make her quiet.”
“What are you doing?!” Xenon’s instincts screamed that something terrible was about to happen.
Without hesitation, he lunged forward like a man possessed, but before he could reach them, the men in black slammed him down hard, his head colliding painfully against the table. Stars exploded behind his eyes.
The masked man produced a syringe seemingly from nowhere. Inside it was a clear liquid that sent a chill through Xenon and his wife’s hearts—they felt an icy grip of dread tighten within them.
“What are you planning? She’s only a few days old!” Xenon’s wife cried out, her voice breaking.
No one knew what the mysterious liquid was, but the fact that these strangers had brazenly invaded Xenon’s home overseas spoke volumes about their power and influence.
Ignoring the desperate screams of Xenon and his wife, the masked man calmly injected the substance into Yvonne’s tiny body. Instantly, the baby’s crying stopped, and she went silent.
Xenon’s wife collapsed, fainting from the shock.
Xenon’s face drained of color, turning ghostly pale.
“Who are you? What do you want? How dare you treat my daughter like this? Let me go! Do you even know who I am? Do you know who my brother is?” Xenon shouted, desperation and fury mingling in his voice.
Usually, Xenon kept his Stone family ties hidden when abroad, maintaining a low profile with his wife. But now, with his daughter’s life at stake, he had no choice but to reveal his identity.
The masked man, however, remained completely unfazed. “Xenon, if you weren’t part of the Stone family, you wouldn’t be facing these troubles right now. Don’t worry—your daughter is fine. I only gave her a mild sedative to put her to sleep temporarily. But if you don’t cooperate with me, I can’t guarantee what I’ll inject her with next.”
His words cut through Xenon’s panic like a knife, forcing him to steady himself.
Looking directly at the masked man, Xenon spoke carefully, “What exactly do you want me to do?”
The masked man’s voice was cold and measured. “I heard you’re returning home in a few days. I’ll tell you what to do after you get back. To make sure you don’t try to trick me, I’m sending someone to follow you. Don’t worry, she’ll only be there as a confinement nanny to help care for your child. As long as you obey me, I guarantee no harm will come to your family.”
