Chapter 519: Jensen Awakens
Just as the Stone family was beginning to settle back into their routine, Jensen found himself stirring awake in a room that was completely foreign to him. A sharp, pounding pain throbbed in his head, and the unfamiliar surroundings only added to his growing disorientation. Slowly, the fog of unconsciousness began to lift from his mind.
His expression twisted into one of displeasure and confusion.
The first thing that struck him was the shocking realization of where he was—and why. Jensen, the proud and composed CEO of Luke Corp, had been kidnapped right from the sanctuary of his own home. To make matters worse, he hadn’t even caught a clear glimpse of his assailant’s face during the attack. The thought alone was infuriating beyond belief.
“You’re awake?” a voice said softly.
Jensen’s initial impulse was to push himself up and take control, but his body felt weak, almost powerless. At that moment, a voice, faintly familiar yet unexpected, caused him to narrow his eyes in suspicion. He instinctively turned his head toward the sound.
“It’s you? You’re the one who brought me here?” he asked, disbelief and anger mingling in his tone.
He had never imagined that Rachel would be the first person he’d see upon regaining consciousness.
Wasn’t this woman somehow connected to his mother? What could be her purpose in abducting him? Was she trying to use him as leverage against his mother? The questions swirled relentlessly in his mind.
Jensen was still clad in his pajamas—comfort wear he had chosen for a quiet evening at home, never anticipating that he might be snatched away from that very place. He looked at Rachel with unmistakable disdain.
“Listen carefully,” he said coldly, “if you have grievances with my mother and think you can use me to threaten her, you’ve seriously miscalculated. I won’t allow that to happen. You’d better understand who I am—I’m not someone you can cross lightly. If you’re wise, you’ll let me go right now, and I’ll act as if none of this ever occurred. Otherwise, the consequences will be far worse than you can imagine.”
The icy contempt in Jensen’s gaze stabbed deep into Rachel’s heart.
Her mind involuntarily drifted back to the terrifying moment on the high seas when Jensen had nearly ended her life.
Rachel’s chest tightened with a sharp, wrenching ache.
Her son—the child she had carried for ten long months—was now standing before her, seemingly siding with another woman, indifferent to her pain.
Her eyes burned fiercely red, and her steps faltered slightly, betraying her inner turmoil.
Jensen noticed her unsteady approach and immediately bristled.
“What are you doing? I’m warning you—if you touch me, I swear I’ll make your life miserable!” he snapped.
Rachel’s frustration finally spilled over. “What nonsense is that?” she shouted.
All these years, she had endured the longing, the silence, the absence, sacrificing her own desires to secure a bright future for him within the Luke family. Yet now, faced with this stranger who bore Jensen’s face but none of his warmth, she struggled to suppress the flood of conflicting emotions his coldness stirred within her.
Her eyes reflected a complex storm of feelings, which only deepened Jensen’s frown.
“How did you manage to kidnap me from my own house and bring me here?” he demanded.
His memory sharpened. He lived at Grand Pavilion. Natalie hadn’t returned, so he had been staying there, waiting for her.
