Jensen had long harbored suspicions about his connection to Rachel, yet the true nature of his ties to the Luke family remained a clouded mystery. If truth be told, he would have preferred to remain in ignorance, blissfully unaware of the tangled web of his origins.

But now, Rachel had stripped away the veil of secrecy, unveiling the shocking truth that lay at the heart of the entire situation.

Was it really the case that Loretta, unable to bear children, had resorted to purchasing Rachel’s child?

Setting aside the moral implications of selling one’s own son, the mere act of buying a child was enough to land Loretta behind bars.

This was a blatant violation of the law!

As if the weight of this revelation wasn’t heavy enough, Jensen noted the presence of police officers surrounding them. His expression darkened like a storm cloud gathering overhead.

“What are you all doing just standing there? Can’t you see this lunatic is harassing my mother? Get over here and restrain Rachel!”

Hansel and the bodyguards, who had been momentarily frozen in shock, snapped back to reality at Jensen’s urgent bellow. They rushed forward, urgency propelling them into action.

The police officers, too, began to advance, their authoritative voices cutting through the chaos.

“What are you doing? Everyone, freeze! We are the police!”

But Rachel and Loretta were beyond the point of caring about titles or badges. Their fury had transformed into a primal battle, each woman intent on overpowering the other.

From a distance, Waylon and Flynn, father and son, observed the unfolding drama with a mix of intrigue and concern.

“Dad, what do you think is going on between Loretta and Rachel? We’re too far to catch all the details. Do you think they’re discussing Jensen’s parentage?”

Waylon shot a disapproving glare at Flynn, who seemed far too interested in gossip for the serious situation at hand.

“Are we here to indulge in idle chatter? The priority now is to keep an eye on Rachel and ensure she doesn’t slip away.”

Flynn, however, had news that sparked a flicker of hope in his father’s eyes.

“Don’t worry, Dad. My brother-in-law just messaged me. Rachel’s ally, James, has already been captured and is being held in a secure location. Rachel is now without her backup; she can’t escape.”

Waylon’s expression darkened, a shadow passing over his features.

“So, she had outside help all along! To think she lived with us for over two decades… What on earth has she been up to behind our backs? Let’s just pray she hasn’t done anything to jeopardize your older brother.”

Her eyes, filled with anguish, locked onto Jensen as she pleaded, “Jensen, are you truly willing to do this to me? Don’t you fear you’ll come to regret this decision?”

“I never act on impulse! Besides, it’s a fact that you poisoned me—you admitted it yourself. Officer, she used poison as a weapon to coerce me into using the Luke family’s private jet to facilitate her escape from Ocean City. I’m not sure if this woman is a wanted criminal, but anyone capable of such actions cannot be a good person. That’s why, when I reached out to my assistant to arrange this, I had him contact the Stone family for assistance. Your presence here is no coincidence.”

Jensen was determined to ensure that Rachel did not expose the truth about Loretta’s purchase of a child over two decades ago.

In his heart, the gratitude he felt for Loretta overshadowed any ties he had to Rachel. He could never be ungrateful, nor could he allow Rachel—a woman who would abandon and sell her own son—to manipulate the situation to her advantage.

Rachel felt as though a dagger had been plunged deep into her chest.

She had been keeping a close watch on Jensen, and he had made that fateful call right under her nose. How had he managed to get Hansel to reach out to the Stone family?

“What have you done?”

She fought against her captors, yearning to lunge at Jensen, to seize him by the collar and demand answers, yet the grip holding her back was unyielding.

“Jensen, I am…”

“It doesn’t matter who you are! All I know is that my mother loves me dearly, would never allow me to suffer injustice, and would certainly never leave me destitute!”
