**Chapter 560: A Shocking Name**
Baron’s mind clicked into place, suddenly illuminating the dark corners of confusion that had clouded his thoughts.
“+10 Free Bons,” he noted absently, his thoughts racing ahead.
James nodded in acknowledgment, his expression serious. “Yes, I joined the team later on. I’ve heard whispers that Rachel has been with the Boss for over two decades. She’s practically a favorite of his. But there’s a twist—she’s a sleeper agent, which means she’s not meant to be exposed easily. She’s restricted from meddling in other affairs to maintain her cover. Yet, if she ever finds herself in need, we’re all expected to follow her lead without question.”
Baron’s long fingers drummed an unconscious rhythm against his knee, his mind a whirlwind of thoughts and implications.
“A sleeper agent… so she was embedded within the Stone family?” he mused aloud, piecing together the implications.
“I believe so,” James replied, his voice steady but tinged with an undercurrent of urgency. “Rachel’s mission is shrouded in secrecy. It’s not our place to pry or inquire further. All we know is that there’s a significant figure within the Stone family, necessitating her presence there under the radar.”
Baron’s thoughts quickly turned to Moses, the connection forming in his mind as if it were an unavoidable truth.
“Beyond Rachel, if you find yourself in a bind or face an accident, who do you turn to for assistance? Don’t tell me your Boss handles everything personally. Given your rank, which is notably lower than Rachel’s, it’s hard to believe the Boss would intervene on your behalf.”
At this, James let out a self-deprecating chuckle, the sound laced with resignation.
“Yeah, I definitely don’t have that kind of privilege. But if trouble comes knocking, I know someone will come to my rescue. They’re supposed to be someone within the system.”
Baron’s tension heightened. “Who might that be?”
The question hung in the air, thick with anticipation. If this individual was indeed part of the system, could they be the one who had discreetly extracted Natalie from the police station?
Baron’s gaze bore into James, searching for answers.
James offered a bitter smile, “I really don’t know. I’ve never met them face-to-face. Mr. Baron, people like that are notoriously cautious. They never reveal themselves.”
“Then how do you reach out when you’re in trouble?” Baron pressed, his curiosity piqued.
“The Boss provided me with a phone number. He said if I ever found myself in a jam, I should have someone call this number, and help would come. At first, I was skeptical. But after managing to extricate myself from tight spots a few times, I began to trust it and stopped questioning it.”
Baron’s eyes narrowed slightly, absorbing the implications of James’ words. It was clear that whoever this contact was, they were indeed careful.
