**Chapter 582: A Familiar Voice in the Alley**
Baron was already in a precarious state, yet he still found time to torment his wife? It was absurd. It was evident he had far too much time on his hands.
Just then, Layne’s voice pierced through his thoughts as he called Baron.
“Well, well, look who finally decided to pick up! Did you lose your phone in the couch cushions?”
Layne’s tone was saturated with sarcasm from the very first word.
Baron, feeling the weight of his mounting frustrations at work, let out a chuckle despite himself. “Listen to you! Is that really how you greet someone?”
“What do you expect me to say? When are you going to find me a vice president? I need to head home for matchmaking!”
Layne’s desperation for a vice president was palpable; he had resorted to discussing matchmaking just to lighten his workload.
Baron’s heart sank at the mention of matchmaking. “Alright, alright! I’ll find someone right away. I promise I’ll get you a vice president this instant!”
“You better! If there’s no vice president by the time I clock out tonight, I’m walking out tomorrow!”
With that ultimatum hanging in the air, Layne hung up abruptly.
Baron felt a wave of exasperation wash over him. Where on earth was he supposed to find a vice president on such short notice?
Suddenly, a face flickered in his mind, a spark of hope igniting within him.
Right.
That individual had been living a quiet life for years now. Perhaps it was time for them to step out into the world again.
He glanced over at Natalie, who was still peacefully resting, her exhaustion evident in her serene expression.
Baron rose from his seat, quickly showered, dressed, and hurriedly exited the room.
In the hotel lobby, he found the manager and wasted no time issuing his commands. “Listen carefully: do not allow anyone to disturb my wife’s rest in the presidential suite. If she wakes up and feels hungry, she will naturally have you send food up. Also, make sure the suite is secure. No one is permitted up there. You must ensure my wife’s safety at all costs.”
The hotel manager, fully aware of Baron’s influence, nodded vigorously, understanding the gravity of the situation.
Yet Baron’s worry lingered. He quickly summoned Shauna, instructing her to bring his own men to guard the hotel from below.
After everything was set in motion, Baron sent a quick message to Natalie’s phone.
“Honey, I have to leave for an urgent matter. If you wake up and feel hungry, just order something or take a taxi home. I can’t say when I’ll be back. Please call me when you get home.”
With his heart heavy, Baron hailed a taxi and departed from the hotel.
Meanwhile, Natalie was not sleeping soundly.
Logically, after such an intense night with Baron, she should have been lost in a deep slumber. Yet, for reasons unknown, she roused not long after he had left.
Her body was utterly drained, the kind of fatigue that could have lulled her into a blissful sleep for an eternity. But her mind was awake, alert, as if it was nagging her about something left undone.
She got up, took a refreshing shower, and glanced at Baron’s text. Only forty minutes had slipped by since his departure.
