Chapter 10 She’s Flirting with Mr Indigo Again

Serena followed Shiloh into class 19. As the lowest–ranked class in grade level B, the atmosphere was notably poor.

Shiloh, raising his voice for introductions, was met with chaos and a flying shoe that nearly hit him on the forehead.

Finally losing his temper, the usually mild–mannered Shiloh shouted, “Everyone quiet down!” He slammed the blackboard, causing a cloud of chalk dust that clouded his vision.

The students burst into laughter at his feeble authority.

Realizing Shiloh might take the entire period just to introduce her, Serena stepped forward herself.

The laughter stopped abruptly.

The new student was strikingly beautiful, with a tall, slender figure, large almond eyes, a high nose bridge, delicate nose, and full lips–flawlessly attractive. Her long, straight legs peeked out from beneath her knee–length school skirt, making her look like a character straight out of a book.

The boys whistled in unison, heralding the arrival of the school’s newest, most stunning girl.

“Indigo, look, isn’t she prettier than your goddess?”

At the back of the classroom, Indigo, who had been preoccupied with his phone, glanced up and nonchalantly commented, “She’s alright.”

Seeing Indigo’s lack of interest, Solstice sighed and shook his head.

On the podium, Shiloh was enthusiastically introducing her, “This is your new classmate, Serena.”

“Serena?”

“The one who cheated on the test?”

“The one who pushed Zachary down the stairs?”

“I heard the Morrow family donated a building for her using Kelly’s money…”

Indigo paused, his phoenix eyes narrowing dangerously as he fixed his gaze on the slim figure at the podium.

“Enough!” Indigo was visibly annoyed.

His unfriendly stare could be felt across the classroom, and Serena glanced back indifferently.

Shiloh, caught off guard by the intense reaction, decided to skip over the controversial introduction.

“Serena, you can sit by…”

There were a few empty seats in the underperforming class. Shiloh’s eyes landed on a clean and pretty girl.

“Next to Kennedy.”

Kennedy raised an eyebrow, “Mr. Shiloh, everyone knows Serena cheated. I don’t want to sit next to her.”

Shiloh, frustrated, responded, “That incident hasn’t been fully investigated yet…”

“Do we need an investigation? Her own parents said so! How could they wrong her?”

The class fell silent, their sense of integrity intact despite their poor grades.

The awkward glances grew more pronounced. Serena, expressionless, said lightly, “Don’t force it.”

She walked directly to the back row.

“Holy shit, she’s not thinking of sitting next to Mr. Indigo, is she?”

“Kennedy, your crush is about to be stolen!”

Kennedy glared at Serena, wishing she could throw her out the window,

Indigo watched Serena approach the last row, then suddenly yanked the adjacent desk and chair to the floor with a loud crash.

The classroom fell silent.

Kennedy barely suppressed a laugh.

Serena merely glanced at the scene and turned to the other side, “May I sit here?”

Her voice was cool and emotionless, undoubtedly pleasant to hear.

Rowan, sitting in the farthest spot from everyone else, stammered nervously.

“Are you sure?”

Some classmates reveled in the drama.

“Look, even Rowan doesn’t want to sit with her, hahaha!”

Rowan, panicking, quickly tried to explain, “I didn’t mean that, I just…”

She tugged at her sleeve to cover the scars on her hands, her forehead sweating and eyes reddening from stress.

“I’m sure,” Serena said.

A gentle breeze seemed to calm Rowan’s nerves.

She shyly pulled out a chair for Serena, “Welcome.”

“Thank you.”

“Not, not at all.”

Rowan was somewhat pleased to have a deskmate, even if her scars curled at her eye corners like old tree bark.

As other classmates looked away from her scars, Rowan pulled her mask and fringe tighter over her face, moving her seat slightly away from Serena.

When she noticed Serena looking her way, she added, “I didn’t want to scare you.”

“I’m not scared.”

“Oh?”

“I’ve seen worse,” Serena replied, unfazed even by mutilation or burns.

Rowan was taken aback.

Is she trying to establish herself as a figure who cares for the weak and wounded?

Having often been used by others to bolster their image, Rowan felt her brief excitement fade.

Despite Serena’s beauty, Rowan doubted Serena could genuinely like someone like her…

Indigo, still playing with his phone, glanced at Serena who was now 6 feet away. Her porcelain face was devoid of emotion, and noticing the overturned desk and chair, he felt a pang of embarrassment.

Purring away his phone, he retrieved a beautifully packaged pink gift box from under his desk and left the classroom.

“Is Mr. Indigo off to give Kelly another gift? Last time it was a Patek Philippe watch, what’s it this time?”

Rowan, sneaking glances at Serena, hesitantly offered her a lollipop.

“Here, you can have this.”

Serena looked up, accepted it with a “Thank you,” and casually started sucking on the lollipop.

Rowan brightened, noticing that unlike others, Serena actually appreciated the gesture.

Her heart skipped a beat.

Other students, especially the boys, couldn’t help but admire Serena, regardless of her reputation. “I thought Kelly was the prettiest, but Serena is even more stunning. Having such a classmate is a feast for the eyes!”

Kennedy gritted her teeth, frustrated by Serena’s presence, which seemed to challenge her directly.

When the first period ended, Indigo returned, holding half a bottle of cola.

He first looked at Serena before sitting down and taking a drink.

“There’s a bug.”

Indigo spit out his drink and jumped up, “Where’s the bug?”

As he frantically searched, he saw Serena holding a pen with a beetle on it. His reaction was overblown, and those black grape–like eyes turned towards him, revealing a faint dimple in her cheek.

She was smiling.

Even if her other facial muscles showed no sign, Indigo, through microexpression analysis, knew she was smiling.

So, it was intentional.
