Chapter 11 Aerobics Queen
The last period of the afternoon was physical education.

At Haven High School, it was a tradition to have a large–scale aerobics performance during the sports festival and school anniversary celebrations, involving all high school girls. For seniors, one of their weekly two periods was dedicated to girls‘ aerobics and boys‘ basketball, while the other period was often preempted by other classes.
“Serena, have you learned the aerobics routine yet?”
Serena had only been at the school for less than a month, probably attending only two or three aerobics classes. The school’s aerobics routine was reputed to be the most challenging in the city, if not the province, consisting of particularly difficult sequences mandated by the education authorities.
Considering Serena was from a rural area and barely exposed to such routines, coupled with her limited experience, Rowan was worried.
Each student had a box at the back of the room for their belongings. Serena opened hers and pulled out the aerobics uniform, catching a whiff of someone else’s scent on it.
She frowned slightly and said, “I know a little.”
Rowan panicked, “I barely passed the routine myself. Want to go over it before class starts?”
Unlike the A building classes, those in Building B might not excel academically, but they included legacies and special admissions who were skilled in sports, arts, and music. Kennedy, the captain and coach of the senior aerobics team, set high standards for Class 19–it wasn’t a class where one could just coast by.
If Serena failed, it would give Kennedy an opportunity to publicly humiliate her new classmate.
As Rowan fretted, Kennedy approached Serena with an offer, “Need some special training?”
Serena looked up, detecting her scent, “No need.”
Kennedy scoffed and walked away with her clique.
“Kennedy, do you think she noticed you tampered with her uniform?”
Kennedy smirked, “I just loosened a few threads. It won’t be obvious until she puts it on and does some vigorous moves–that’s when the threads will give way.”
Her friends couldn’t help but laugh.

Trushed
“The threads giving way, that’s clever! Won’t her outfit just turn into two pieces of cloth? Her whole body will be exposed!”
“That’s the price she pays for flirting with Mr. Indigo!” Kennedy retorted.
The aerobics session was a highlight for the male students, and with a well–known beauty like Kennedy, the locker room buzzed while the sports field was crowded, as today’s classes from other grades came to watch.
Serena changed into her uniform, tying her hair into a neat bun and using a bunny ear elastic band.
“Kennedy, she’s using the same hair tie as you!” Natalie pointed out suddenly.
Kennedy glanced at her with a snort. The comparison was superficially trivial but deeply insulting.
“Serena isn’t copying you,” Rowan quickly said, recalling how she was accused of imitation for merely wearing a similar outfit to Kennedy’s in the past.
Kennedy, already in her uniform, struck a pose that highlighted her curves and air of superiority. “I allow you to imitate me,” she declared, then sashayed out with her entourage.
Outside, the cheers and whistles for “Kennedy! Kennedy!” filled the air.
Kennedy noted the larger–than–usual crowd. The entire basketball court was bustling, with only Class 19’s Indigo and a few others still playing, as most had joined the onlookers.
Hearing the noise, Solstice couldn’t resist looking back and got hit by a basketball on his chin, causing his already full mouth to spill saliva.
“Are you okay, class leader?”
Solstice rubbed his chin, “Mr. Indigo, can I take a bathroom break?”
Indigo tossed him a water bottle, “You have ten minutes!”
Solstice sprinted off to join the crowd.
Kennedy waved at Indigo from afar, but he ignored her and continued playing, determined to outperform despite being short–handed.
The girls gradually emerged from the locker room, their tight fitness attire accentuating every curve and flaw. At their age, many struggled with weight due to growth, making the revealing nature of fitness wear a brutal public revelation of any physical imperfections.
Kennedy stood on a specially constructed platform for the team leader, satisfied as she watched

her less perfectly shaped peers line up below her, reveling in the attention she commanded like a queen overseeing her subjects.
Just then, a shout erupted, “Wow! How beautiful!*
The cheers and whistles shifted as all eyes turned to the newly arrived Serena.
“Is that Serena? She looks so cool!”
Serena’s figure was nearly flawless, except for her slightly smaller bust. Her exposed waist was slim enough to reveal abdominal lines, accentuated by her simple but stylish bun which shed any softness her long hair might have imparted, giving her a clean, sharp look–beautiful yet fierce.
Kennedy caught sight of Serena’s defined abs, something she had aspired to. Glancing down at her own slightly rounded waist, she felt even more exposed and outclassed by Serena’s lean figure.
“Serena!” Kennedy called out, realizing too late that she had spoken her thoughts aloud.
She quickly composed herself, lifting her chin with an air of authority, “You’re new here, let me see how well you’ve learned the routine.”
She deliberately cleared the platform, intending to watch Serena fail spectacularly.
Standing on the stage meant to honor excellence, Kennedy planned to make Serena embarrass herself thoroughly.
“Serena?” Rowan tugged at Serena’s hand, fearing the public spectacle that awaited her.
Serena remained composed, “I can do it.”
Rowan let go, though still uneasy.
Serena stepped onto the platform, and the cheers and whistles grew even louder.
Kennedy seethed internally, ‘Don’t get too proud; the real show is about to start.
She hit play on the stereo, and as the music started, the person on the stage moved with such fluidity and precision that even Indigo, playing basketball, paused to watch the subtle shifts in her muscle tone.
Others might see it as mere proficiency, but Indigo, recognizing the depth of her skill, saw someone who mastered the essence of the movements from the inside out.
“Mr. Indigo, watch out!”
