Serena casually pulled a chair toward her, and Madam Suzanne’s knee slammed right into it. She fell face-first to the ground with a loud crash. One of her freshly manicured nails snapped clean off, blood oozing from her finger.
“Richard, Angela! You raised a daughter who assaults people!” Madam Suzanne shrieked from the floor.
Richard’s heart sank. If they offended the Simpson family, even their business ties would be cut off. Rage boiling over, he raised his hand to slap Serena—
The door suddenly burst open.
Before the slap could land, a sharp crack echoed through the room. Richard’s wrist broke on impact.
The man’s presence was overwhelming. So overwhelming that even as pain drenched Richard in cold sweat, he didn’t dare make a sound.
Angela tried to help but found herself frozen in place, unable to move.
Celeste stood with her mouth half-open, no words coming out.
The entire event room was like a frozen photograph.
Sebastian removed his coat and wrapped it around Serena. The murderous rage bubbling under his calm exterior felt like a volcano ready to erupt.
“I could’ve handled it,” Serena said.
Sebastian looked at her, his face growing even darker.
Without a word, he led her out of the room.
Sensing something was off, Serena kept quiet too.
Once she was shoved into the car and he sat down at the far end, refusing to look at her, Serena realized—he was really angry.
The car started, heading toward the Morrow family estate.
Serena asked, “Did you guys have a bad dinner?”
Noah answered, “No.”
“Did another woman touch him?”
Noah replied, “No!”
“Then why is he angry?”
Noah’s face turned grim. “Serena, just stop talking!”
Couldn’t she see Sebastian’s handsome face was about to twist into something monstrous?
Noah didn’t even know what Sebastian was mad about, but he could feel it—Sebastian was one second away from killing someone. They needed to shut up and stay out of the line of fire.
It was only long after Sebastian left with Serena that life returned to the event room.
Zachary poured himself a glass of juice to calm down. He recognized the man—that was the same guy he’d dragged out of the street that day. He had saved Serena again.
