When the GF9 Test Subject Became His Obsession novel Chapter 140

After speaking, Olivia pulled out her wallet and handed Serena a card. “I just had this made in your name this afternoon. The profits from the uncut gems will be deposited here, along with your monthly allowance.”

Ever since Serena returned to the Morrow estate, Olivia had been giving her an allowance like clockwork—$1,500 a month.

In Haven High School, where the kids were practically born with trust funds, that amount was on the low end. But it still covered the basics.

After all, their family’s “setting” was middle-class farmers.

“Mom, the gem money should go toward treating my brother.”

She didn’t need it. She already had several boxes of cash stashed under her bed.

Olivia ruffled her hair. “Don’t worry about your brother. Your dad and I will handle it.”

Serena nodded.

Once Olivia left, Serena opened her package. Inside was a delivery from Sean—medicine.

“Got the meds,” she texted him.

Sean replied in seconds: “Sweetpea, what are the two formulas for this time?”

Serena: “Guess.”

That clearly meant she wasn’t going to tell him.

He had run the meds by a few alternative medicine experts. One herbal formula seemed like it was for allergy relief. The other? Total mystery.

Meanwhile, Olivia had taken photos of the uncut gems and sent them to Craig.

When he got the call, he had just dropped Kelly off at Morrow Manor.

The old woman who’d been bedridden during the day now looked alert and energized.

“What did your aunt want from you?” she asked Craig.

He rubbed his temples. “Serena picked out two good uncut gems today. She asked me to keep them for her.”

Kelly, halfway up the stairs, doubled back. “She used your money to buy those gems, and now she wants to sell them back to you at a markup?”

Craig didn’t even have time to respond before Madam Dorothy slammed her palm on the table.

“What? That shameless girl!”

“Ever since Serena moved in, your uncle’s family has gone completely off the rails. Now they’re even conning money from their own! Your uncle wanted to buy that herbal formula, and they tried to jack up the price. Now you gave her the money for those stones, and she wants to resell them? Outrageous!”

Craig frowned.

He didn’t know the details of the Serenity Blend formula, but the gem situation wasn’t exactly worth demonizing his uncle over.

“They’re not marking up the price. Serena cracked open two gems—really good quality. They cost less than ten grand total, and now they’re worth at least fifty. Aunt Wendy offered them to me for the original price—ten thousand.”

The old lady paused. That bumpkin had that kind of luck?

Craig’s heart dropped. Did Serena really give the Morrow family poison?
