Noah came in carrying a plate of fruit and took one look at Zayden’s defeated posture. Instantly, he understood what was going through his mind.
“Clovencia’s medical tradition goes back thousands of years. There are plenty of hidden masters out there. That ancient tomb in Shadowridge Mountain produced loads of lost medical texts that no current school of thought can fully decipher. You can’t look down on Ms. Serena just because she came out of a therapeutic massage shop. Who knows? Maybe the person who taught her is a true master.”
Zayden’s chest tightened. Acupuncture-based anesthesia—done with such precision and control—yeah… whoever taught her probably was a master.
And just like that, his mood didn’t feel quite so heavy anymore.
Inside the room, Sebastian’s nerves had also calmed.
He asked, “Can you actually cure my illness?”
Serena answered, “Your condition is genetic. It can’t be cured.”
“But everyone’s genes carry some flaws. Some people get sick from them, some don’t. The human body is a unified system. You shouldn’t treat illness like the enemy and try to wipe it out. You need to learn how to live with it. One day, if you can harmonize with it, the symptoms might never return.”
It was a deep theory—but somehow, not unfamiliar.
Today’s acupuncture took Serena quite a while. By the time she finished, it was already one in the afternoon.
She handed Sebastian two bottles of medicine. “The red one’s for emergency use during allergic reactions. The blue one is for daily use—one pill a day. No side effects. Won’t wreck your system like those quick-fix drugs.”
After explaining, she held out her hand. “Ten thousand per bottle. That’s twenty thousand total. Cash only. Pay first, then take.”
Sebastian’s fingers had just touched the bottles.
Wasn’t the whole point to explore a relationship beyond monetary transactions?
“Noah, get the money.”
Noah soon came in lugging a bag full of cash.
Serena suddenly asked, “Have you ever been in a relationship?”
The question hit out of nowhere—and Sebastian felt a flash of heat rise up in his gut.
Serena remained calm. “Given your physical condition, I doubt it. I happen to have a phenomenal book. Full coverage. Teaches everything. Helps train your body and explains how hormones work. Not ninety-nine thousand. Just ninety-eight hundred. Worth thinking about.”
When it came to scamming people, Serena never pulled her punches.
Sebastian stared at her.
Noah, standing with the cash, stared at her.
Even Zayden, still squatting by the door, stared at her.
And somehow, this girl managed to keep a completely straight face.
“Uh… Ms. Serena, is this how your massage place sells miracle oils?”
Noah was the first to break the silence.
Serena shrugged. “Pretty much.”
Sebastian froze. He immediately thought back to the last time she’d been attacked and shouted yamete. Blood started rushing somewhere it shouldn’t.
This… couldn’t possibly be… porn?

Ugh.
Did she even know what she was saying?
