When the GF9 Test Subject Became His Obsession novel Chapter 154

"Experimental High is shameless! They waited until First High agreed to the match before bringing in outside help!"

"So what? If they can bring in outsiders, so can we! Who’s afraid of who?"

"Are you serious? You want Horizon Research Institute’s Advanced Research Team to drag in outside players just to fight a regular school? That’s not strategy—that’s a joke!"

"Losing would be the biggest joke of all!"

"I demand Taylor step in and put those shameless bastards in their place!"

"Taylor may lead the research group, but he’s not an official member. You think he’d take the field himself? Keep dreaming…"

The moment the news dropped, First High’s forum exploded. The servers nearly crashed several times from the traffic.

Inside Horizon Research Institute’s Advanced Research Team, the mood turned suffocatingly grim.

Facing a lineup stacked with national physics champions, for the first time, they couldn’t summon their usual confidence. It was clear—Experimental High had outmaneuvered them.

"This is all Serena’s fault! If she hadn’t provoked Quinton, would we be caught in this disaster?" Peyton fumed.

Ranked eighth in the city, she knew better than to clash head-on with someone ranked eighth nationwide in a single subject.

"You can’t really blame her. Jeremy was the one who agreed to the match," Harry offered.

Instantly, glares pinned him to his seat.

He hunched his shoulders. "Forget I said anything."

His eyes shifted to Indigo, who was still absorbed in his phone. Out of their group of three, he was the only one who seemed even remotely focused.

Well, that made sense. Serena had cheated her way to first place, Indigo sat at tenth, and he was the most capable of the three.

As the saying went, great power came with great responsibility. It was up to him to drag those two back onto the right path.

"What do you think?" he asked.

Indigo’s thumbs didn’t stop moving. "Jake and the other two physics competitors aren’t that scary. If we fight hard, we might not lose…"

"Might not?" Celeste snapped. "We have to win!"

"That’s right, we must win!" the others echoed.

Indigo finally looked up. For a split second, he almost blurted out, Where do any of you nobodies, who’ve never even entered a physics competition, get the confidence to talk about winning?

And then there was the mysterious code-named X.
