When the GF9 Test Subject Became His Obsession novel Chapter 63

Less than three minutes after Patrick’s apology was sent out, the student council released an announcement: Patrick was to be given a demerit and kept under review, while Thanos, Solstice, and the others were disqualified for “playing a staged game.” Their athletic scholarship consideration slots would pass to Jeremy and Harry in Building A.

Jeremy and Harry were both consistent top ten students in the grade. The intention behind this could not have been clearer.

The news set the entire school ablaze.

“What the hell! The student council’s shameless!”

“They were the ones playing dirty, and now they’re framing us for throwing the match? Absolutely disgusting!”

“Do they think we’re blind? I’ve got the whole thing on video—I’m uploading it right now so everyone can judge for themselves. Who threw the match and who played dirty? How could we ‘throw a game’ and still have the state basketball team cripple three of our players?”

“Thanos, post all the medical reports!”

“The student council is blatantly helping Building A’s top students steal the slots! This is beyond foul!”

In the sweltering heat, Patrick wore a hood and a baseball cap, his face buried in shadow. Even so, when he passed from Building B toward Building A, crumpled paper balls still landed on him with perfect accuracy.

Some students even sacrificed their breakfast for the cause.

Patrick didn’t shout or dodge. Hands stuffed in his pockets, head lowered, shoulders hunched, he trudged toward Building A.

The distance between the two buildings wasn’t far, but for him, it felt like a century.

“Patrick!” Members of the athletic department ran up, surrounding him, shielding his head and blocking the barrage.

“What are you doing here?”

Patrick frowned. “Go back and mind your own business. This has nothing to do with you.”

A sophomore nearly burst into tears. “Patrick, you said it yourself—we share good times and hard times together! We can’t let you take the blame alone!”

Hearing that, Patrick felt warmth seep into his chilled heart. Those words made every sacrifice worth it.

“We can’t just let the student council screw us over like this!”

Slamming his textbook onto the desk, Solstice shot to his feet and headed for the door.

The other boys looked to Indigo. “Indigo?”

Indigo’s face was calm as he bent down, picked the book up, and placed it back on Solstice’s desk. Then he turned and walked out. That was all the permission the others needed to follow.

If Solstice couldn’t swallow this, how could Thanos? And what about the classmates who were injured just minutes into the game?

“Joshua, they’re about to fight!” Inside the student council office, several members stood with Joshua at the floor-to-ceiling windows, watching the scene like a show.

While others might have been alarmed, Joshua was perfectly at ease. “Good. Let them fight. If they do, it’s no longer just about losing the scholarship slots—they could get expelled.”

The others suddenly understood—this was Joshua’s setup all along.

By framing Building B for throwing the match, he forced them into a corner: either swallow the punishment or lash out.

If they fought, the lead instigator could face serious disciplinary action. Even if the staged-game accusation was proven false later, losing their temper and fighting would be enough to strip them of eligibility.

Then the student council could just casually say they’d made a mistake, and the result would be the same.

One way or another, Thanos and the others were finished.

And right now, they were walking themselves straight into the trap.

Harry frowned. “Isn’t this going too far?”

He wanted the bonus points, but not in such a filthy, underhanded way.
