When the GF9 Test Subject Became His Obsession novel Chapter 69

Zachary finally began to panic. He pulled out his phone, number already keyed in, but hesitated before making the call.

If the police actually came, Serena would be taken to the station too. What would the Morrow family think of her then?

Their parents cared about appearances. If she ended up with a record, they’d never allow her to set foot in the Reed family again.

Cold sweat slid down his back. For the first time, he felt utterly wronged and helpless.

Suddenly, inspiration struck. He called Celeste. “Celeste, Serena’s fighting with Patrick. Doesn’t Patrick listen to you? Tell him to stop!”

Celeste’s eyes lit up—Patrick really didn’t disappoint her.

While Zachary was frantic, Celeste’s tone was lazily indifferent. “Zachary, stay out of fights like that. The doctor’s calling me, I have to go.”

The beeping in his ear drove Zachary crazy. He spun around and grabbed a tall man. “My sister’s in there—please, help her!”

He probably didn’t even notice there were tears in his eyes.

The man’s gaze lingered on his face for a second, then he said, “Alright.”

The next moment, he lifted one long leg and kicked the warehouse door. The heavy door shuddered twice before crashing down.

Serena’s small hand was “struggling” to block Patrick’s iron fists and the weapons of countless thugs. For a moment, the scene froze—and then, in the blink of an eye, the nearest few men were sent flying, slamming hard into the wall.

Her hands met empty air, and within ten feet, the space around her instantly became the safest place to be.

Curious, she took a couple of steps to see if the wall where Patrick had been thrown had actually dented. Patrick felt like every bone in his body had shattered.

This man’s strikes were far more brutal than Serena’s—so much so that Patrick was sure a few of his bones were about to break.

The man’s long limbs swept through the crowd like a storm, taking down dozens in seconds. In under three minutes, the place was completely cleared.

Zachary was stunned. He’d just randomly begged someone for help, and the guy turned out to be this terrifyingly strong.

Once the pests were dealt with, Sebastian pulled out a handkerchief to wipe the dust and blood from his hands. Only then did he realize he might have gone a bit overboard—things looked a little too violent.

Worried, he turned to Serena. “Are you scared?”

Serena instinctively assessed his strength and speed, and came to the conclusion—she couldn’t beat this man.

“Am I scared?”

In Sebastian’s eyes, she was delicate and fragile. Attacked by over a dozen thugs, she must have been terrified. And maybe his methods had been too violent, scaring her as well. He didn’t want her to think he was just a brutish thug.

After a pause, Serena shook her head. “No.”

“Boss, we’re thugs! This is an insult!”

Patrick’s face darkened. “Talk to her about terms when you can beat her.”

The thugs fell silent.

Sebastian placed a gentlemanly hand behind Serena’s back, guiding her out of the warehouse. His men could handle the rest.

Maybe it was from the fight just now, but a fine sheen of sweat covered Serena’s forehead, releasing a faint sweetness that drifted into his lungs and cleared his mind.

The curve of Sebastian’s lips deepened.

Zachary hurried up, his expression complicated, brushing proudly past her side. “I was the one who found someone to save you. No need to thank me.”

Sneaking a glance at her, he added, “Of course, if you wanted to spend tens of thousands to get me a console, I wouldn’t mind. But this time, I’m picking it myself…”

His console had to be more expensive than Lebron’s.

A Maybach pulled up beside them. “Mr. Hayes.”

Sebastian personally opened the door for Serena, shielding her head as she got in, before circling around to the other side.
