When the GF9 Test Subject Became His Obsession novel Chapter 74

Taylor said, “Even with the athletic scholarship consideration, you think you could get into Howerton University or Kingsford University? Or maybe an Ivy League or one of the top state schools? Please… not you.”

Solstice fell silent.

“If you can’t bring honor to the school with that spot, then giving it to you is a waste.”

“But,” Serena looked up, “Solstice and Thanos earned that spot fair and square. No one has the right to take it away from them. Not even you.”

Taylor and the others froze.

Damn. That demon girl never opens her mouth unless it’s to stir up trouble.

Harry, who’d been quiet this whole time, spoke up softly. “I think we should respect Solstice and Thanos’ decision.”

Jeremy’s temper flared. “Whose side are you on, Harry?”

Harry shut his mouth immediately.

Jeremy jabbed a finger toward Thanos and Solstice. “Don’t act like you’re so righteous. If you think you’re so great, try beating me in grades. If anyone in Building B can beat me academically, I’ll call them boss!”

Thanos snatched Serena over and threw his arm around her. “She ranked first in the last exam. Go ahead. Call her boss.”

Jeremy choked. What the hell?

“She cheated! That doesn’t count!”

“You said it yourself—if anyone in Building B beat you in grades. Doesn’t matter how it happened. What now? Trying to walk it back?” Thanos taunted.

Jeremy’s face turned red. “That test doesn’t count! If she can beat me in the next one, fine. Hell, she doesn’t even have to come in first. Just beat me, and I’ll give those scholarship spots back to Building B!”

Joshua glanced at him, then smiled. This was the perfect opportunity. Given her background, there was no way Serena could beat Jeremy academically.

If she lost, then Building B would have no leg to stand on. The athletic scholarship consideration would be Building A’s, fair and square. The mess would be over.

“Serena,” Joshua said smoothly, “you up for it?”

“This is your chance to prove yourself,” he added, his voice all gentle charm.

“What, are you scared?” Jeremy mocked. “Scared because everyone’s right and you really did cheat last time?”

Taylor hadn’t said a word, but he hadn’t taken his eyes off her either. His gaze was heavy, cold, analytical—like he was studying her under a microscope.

He thinks I cheated too, doesn’t he?

Serena said nothing. The room was quiet, waiting for her answer.

Finally, Taylor broke the silence. “You afraid?”

“Why?” Serena asked calmly. “You seem so confident I’ll lose.”

Jeremy barked a laugh. “Fine! I accept!”

Then he hesitated. “But if you lose, Building B better be wearing those turtle shells instead!”

“If I lose, you get the two scholarship spots,” Serena replied coolly. “Isn’t that enough?”

Shit. Got played.

If he lost, he’d go down as the idiot who dragged Building A through the mud.

Joshua shot him a subtle look—calm down. “Then it’s settled. We’ll let the results of the next exam decide everything.”

He turned toward Taylor, as if seeking confirmation. Taylor gave no clear reaction. Joshua couldn’t read what he was thinking.

Serena, Solstice, and Thanos were the first to leave the office.

“I have a bad feeling,” Thanos muttered. “Student council’s probably setting us up.”

“I don’t know…” Solstice said. “Taylor still has some decency. Probably.”

Bottom lines exist… but they can always be lowered.
