When the GF9 Test Subject Became His Obsession novel Chapter 73

The moment Taylor’s gaze swept across the room, the other teachers followed instinctively, and finally noticed Serena was there too. Quartz immediately looked awkward. Not wanting to waste Taylor’s time, he quickly signed off on the end of his leave.

Taylor nodded in thanks—then suddenly asked, “Students who cheated on the monthly exam still get to stay?”

Cold sweat poured down Quartz’s back. He answered truthfully, “The Morrow family donated three hundred thousand dollars for a new school building. For the school to develop well, we need funding.”

Serena looked up at Quartz.

For no reason at all, the sweat on Quartz’s back started to pour even faster.

Shiloh finally arrived, dragging Solstice and Thanos along with him.

Serena couldn’t help but suspect that Shiloh had delayed on purpose—probably hoping Class 17’s homeroom teacher would show up to help him handle the “foreign enemy.” But that teacher never came.

Now that the key players were present, Sequoia awkwardly excused herself. Only then did Quartz say, “You’ve heard about the athletic scholarship consideration issue, right?”

Taylor nodded. “I’ll handle it.”

Quartz exhaled in relief. “Good. Then it’s all yours.”

Taylor nodded again, then addressed the homeroom teachers. “I’ll take over from here. Thank you all.”

The teachers all bowed their heads and left like obedient schoolchildren.

Taylor motioned for everyone to follow him to the student council president’s office.

Having just returned, he had a mountain of issues to deal with—like a CEO stepping back into his company after a hiatus.

Joshua stood at his side, updating him on everything.

“Let’s hear it. What are your thoughts on the athletic scholarship consideration?” Taylor didn’t even look up, his hands busy shuffling through files.

Jeremy looked at Solstice. Solstice looked at Thanos. Thanos tried to exchange a glance with Serena—but she was still glued to her phone, not even sparing him a look.

Serena had skimmed Taylor’s profile—his achievements, his latest research. Sean kept pestering her from afar.

“Well? What do you think?”

Serena replied, “Not much.”

Sean was stunned.

What now? Who managed to offend the national treasure Sweetpea again?

“Sweetpea, this one’s a rare talent—don’t let him go to waste!”

Joshua and Jeremy nearly burst out laughing. Just as expected.

Harry pressed his lips together and said nothing.

Thanos was furious. “I don’t care how much you offer—I’m not giving it up! I fought for it with a busted leg! Why should we hand it over?”

Taylor frowned. Joshua jumped in with a bureaucratic tone. “Thanos, don’t be ungrateful.”

Taylor raised a hand, signaling him to be quiet. “The school’s bottom line is this: twenty thousand dollars per person. You give up the spot, we give you the money.”

He knew this kind of cash was meaningless to the trust fund kids in Building B, but it was the biggest concession the school could make.

Every school gave bonus points to their top students. These assessments were just for show. It wasn’t the first time they’d “crashed”—and when it happened, money always smoothed things over. Sometimes, students from less privileged backgrounds would fight hard for that slot… only to sell it to someone who could afford it.

Of course, that didn’t mean rich students wouldn’t try to play the same game.

Twenty grand. Who wouldn’t be tempted?

“Right now, the superiors are watching these scholarships closely. Even if you find a buyer, if the school doesn’t approve, they still won’t get access to the opportunity. You can discuss this with your parents if you need to.”

“No need,” Solstice finally said. “I’m not giving it up. And I’m not selling it either. I just want the school to do the right thing. We didn’t fake the game. If we give up now, then all the injuries we suffered that day were for nothing.”
