When the GF9 Test Subject Became His Obsession novel Chapter 84

“This isn’t about who likes who,” Joshua said with heavy conviction, his voice calm but cutting. “Serena’s language test paper is missing, and she’s clearly implying the student council is behind it. The papers were sealed when sent from the Main Office, and the only ones who had access were your data-entry team. Now that the paper’s gone, guess who looks the most suspicious?”

With a noble expression and an air of righteousness, Joshua’s words landed like poisoned darts, stirring up the student council members who had just arrived. One sentence—and he’d successfully turned suspicion into seething resentment.

Rowan clenched her small fists, heart pounding. “Serena didn’t mean it like that…”

Noelle Summers from the Arts Department scoffed coldly. “She throws mud, then pretends it’s water? What a joke. I bet she never turned that paper in to begin with and just wants to blame us.”

“What would we even gain from stealing your test paper?”

“Enough,” Joshua said, raising his hand to calm the crowd. “There’s security footage in this office. Let’s pull it up and see for ourselves. Jennifer, you were the only one working late last night. What time did you start entering the language scores?”

Jennifer’s voice trembled as she answered, eyes still misty with tears. “Around two in the morning.”

Joshua clapped his hands together. “Perfect. Let’s check the footage and see who the real culprit is.”

He turned to look at Serena, a triumphant smirk twitching at the corners of his lips.

The security footage came up quickly.

Late at night, Jennifer sat alone in the student council office, quietly tearing open a sealed bag of test papers. She began entering them one by one. But less than two minutes later, she got up and left the room.

The moment she disappeared from view, another girl entered. She wore a hoodie and a medical mask, her face completely obscured. But her build closely resembled Serena’s. And more damningly, she was wearing the exact pair of shoes Serena had worn yesterday—and was still wearing today.

The camera clearly showed the masked girl walking straight to Jennifer’s desk, flipping rapidly through the stack of tests. She pulled one out and fed it into the shredder beside the desk. The entire process took less than a minute.

Jennifer returned a few seconds later, completely unaware of what had happened.

The students from Class 19 stared in stunned silence, their confidence crumbling.

The student council members broke into delighted laughter.

“Serena… it was really you?” Jennifer whispered, her voice raw with heartbreak.

There was nothing more painful than watching the idol you admired fall apart right in front of you.

“I told you she wasn’t a good person,” someone muttered beside Jennifer. “But you wouldn’t listen—”

“I’m really disappointed in you, Serena.”

There was no hesitation in her eyes. No doubt in her voice. She trusted Serena completely.

Serena met her gaze and saw in it something she hadn’t seen in a long time: unwavering belief. Even Solstice, even the other boys from Class 19, had faltered when they saw that footage. But not Rowan. She never wavered.

And to Serena, that meant something hard to define. Something that sat heavy in her chest.

“Serena, wait for me!” Rowan called out, lifting the bin of shredded paper. Every strip was sliced to bits, nearly unrecognizable. No normal person could reassemble that. But she was going to try anyway.

Later that evening, as Taylor stepped out of the laboratory, Joshua rushed up to him.

“Taylor, we found proof. We have Serena’s cheating on camera!”

The following day, at noon, was the long-awaited payoff between Building A and Building B.

All senior students were gathered on the school’s main field.

Serena had taken first place. But now, the student council had something even better: so-called evidence that she had cheated to get there.

And they were ready to use it.
