THIRD PERSON POINT OF VIEW
“I told you…to never try again.”
The ground violently trembled as the clash of Ronan and Ryker’s powers sent shockwaves through the room, blinding everyone for a moment. Ryker stood stunned, his dark magic having always kept his movements hidden; yet here was Ronan, appearing with a force that defied logic. The Grand Hall erupted into chaos, and gasps filled the air at the unexpected appearance of the Lycan King.
Every eye was drawn to Ronan’s chest, where a beautiful petal mark glowed, identical to the one that had once adorned Petal.
“They’re marked!” one of the Alphas exclaimed in disbelief.
“They’re soulmates!!” another whispered, as the realization rippled through the room.
Except for Ryker, whose mind went blank at the sight of their shared bond. He hadn’t known that Petal had marked Dread Lord nine hundred years ago. The petal mark had returned with Ronan’s memories, and now their bond was complete. Ryker’s own mark on Seraphina’s neck was never a mark, just a dog bite like she said. She just let it on her neck for a while to deceive him. But she had torn it away before defeating him and claiming the Alpha King’s throne. The moment the mark was destroyed, Ronan could find her.
A shadow fell over Ryker’s face, and for the first time, he was silent. The darkness in his eyes only deepened.
“Let me ask you something, Seraphina,” Ryker’s voice was low and controlled.
Seraphina stepped out from behind Ronan’s back, meeting his gaze with calm resolve.
“If Dread Lord hadn’t been there nine hundred years ago,” Ryker’s voice dropped to a murmur, “If you hadn’t been consumed by his soulmate bond, would you have chosen me? Would you have fallen in love with me?”
“Never,” Seraphina responded instantly, her voice unwavering. “The mate bond doesn’t make us soulmates. Love does. Even if Ronan had never been a part of my life, I still would never have chosen you, Ryker. My love begins and ends with him, there is no place for you. There never was.” Her words cut through the air like a blade, echoing in the tense silence.
Ryker’s jaw tightened, his expression darkening further. “Is that so?” he murmured, his voice low and dangerous as he stepped closer. “Then you’ll pay for breaking my heart.”
In an instant, the Alphas in the room shifted into their wolves, growling menacingly as they lunged toward Ronan, tearing him away from Seraphina.
Seraphina gasped in shock, having noticed all of their eyes were black. Since they were already in Ryker’s palace, none of them were under the protection of her powers, “Ronan, don’t kill them!”
“Ronan, don’t kill them!” she cried out again desperately, her voice rising as she saw Ronan’s fury flare. He was moments away from snapping the neck of one of the wolves.
Ronan’s violet eyes darkened the moment he glanced at Seraphina. Ryker was already near her, his voice a chilling whisper close to her lips. “My heartbreak pays with yours.”
Before Seraphina could react, the entire roof above them crashed down on Ronan and the wolves that surrounded him.
She locked eyes with him, her gaze unwavering, shielded by Ronan’s red aura. A chuckle escaped her lips. “You think you can kill him?”
With a roar, Ronan’s red aura erupted, scattering the debris and hurling the wolves in every direction. They were thrown violently across the hall, their bodies crashing into the walls.
Ryker’s lips curled into a cruel smile. “He will die when you die, and you will die when…” He paused, savoring the moment. As if on cue, one of the Alpha wolves shifted back into his human form and slashed his own throat. Seraphina gasped as one by one, all the Alphas slowly shifted back letting her know that if Ronan would not kill them then they were going to kill themselves. “I will wipe out your entire kingdom, Seraphina,” Ryker continued, his voice dripping with madness. “Now, this is no longer just my obsession to get you…” He smiled darkly as wolves from the darkest corners of the palace exploded into view, their eyes entirely white, pouncing toward Ronan. “It is my need to have you, and for that to happen if I must ruin you mentally, physically, or kill you…then I am ready to do it, my little flower.”

Alpha Hugo and Jude exchanged stunned glances, witnessing the extent of Percy’s power. Thanks to the parental bond between Alpha Darious and Seraphina, they had been able to locate Ryker’s palace and break in, with Ronan’s assistance. But if Percy touched them, they were all dead. Every second that passed, Percy killed wolves with merciless efficiency.
Seraphina clenched her fists, her heart heavy with the truth. She had suspected that Percy was not truly alive, that he was a creation of Ryker’s dark magic, the first of his abominations.
Aran watched Seraphina’s aura shift and turned his gaze to Ronan, who was tearing through Ryker’s dark magic like a force of nature. Then his eyes flickered to the moon hidden beneath the heavy sky. Everything was changing.
“You think that these handful of people are going to stop me, Seraphina?” Ryker sneered, his dark smoke swirling around him as he issued an order without tearing his eyes from her. “Kill Alpha Darious.”
Seraphina’s breath hitched, and her eyes snapped to Percy, who had changed direction and was now heading for her father.
Alpha Darious froze, the realization sinking in that running was futile. He looked away from Percy and met Seraphina’s gaze, a bittersweet smile curving his lips as if he were saying goodbye. “You made me proud, my Alpha Queen,” he whispered.
Seraphina’s eyes glistened with slight tears, “No…” she whispered, raising her leg in an attempt to shift into her wolf, but before she could act, the roof exploded. A figure descended from the chaos, landing in front of Alpha Darious.
“Asher,” Seraphina gasped.
Asher stood tall, his half-shifted claw burning with the curse, and without hesitation, he struck Percy down with one swift, fiery motion. Percy’s body was torn into two pieces, the fire scorching his remains as he disintegrated in an instant.
