The centerpiece was an unlimited black card. There was only one of its kind in the entire world. It was a card reserved exclusively for the person ranked number one on the global Forbes list, someone whose assets were substantial enough to shake the world economy. It was said the card could buy a city, a true symbol of ultimate status.
In addition to all that, there was a private island resort located abroad. The resort was fully developed and highly profitable, generating billions of dollars in revenue annually, all managed by the Y-N Group’s tourism division. Gifting it to the Sargent family meant they could sit back and collect a massive income every year without lifting a finger.
As each item was announced, the Sargent family was left in a state of shock, and each gift felt like another slap across Quinton’s face, filling him with a deep sense of inferiority.
He was, at the end of the day, an adopted son. All the wealth and status he enjoyed had been given to him by the Sargent family. In contrast, everything Yosef offered was something he had built himself.
Furthermore, each gift was carefully considered, not just a random display of wealth. Properties in every city, a practical yacht and jet, the world’s most exclusive card, and an island that generated passive income. The antiques and jewels were mere accessories.
After the butler finished, Sabrina turned to Zelina. “This is far too much, Zelina. Our families don’t need to be so… overly formal.”
Hector looked at Ryland and added, “She’s right.”
Zelina smiled warmly. “This isn’t from us. It’s all from Yosef.”
This left the Sargent parents speechless. Hector could only say, “Yosef is truly an exceptional young man. Our Henrietta is very fortunate; she has certainly married up.”
For the first time, Henrietta found herself agreeing with her father. She had… married up quite a bit. This man was so good it was almost unbelievable.
Zelina chuckled. “Now, what are you saying? Henrietta isn’t marrying up at all; it’s Yosef who’s lucky. He’s older and always so busy. The fact that Henrietta was willing to marry him is his greatest fortune!”
Zelina’s praise made Henrietta feel almost bashful. “Mom, that's really nice of you to say!” she murmured.
Zelina’s smile widened. “Oh, and Yosef also said the island is to be renamed in Henrietta’s honor. It will be called Henrietta Island.”
Henrietta’s eyes widened slightly.
Hector was also surprised. “Renaming a well-established tourist island isn’t a simple matter. It can be quite troublesome.”
“Don’t worry about it,” Ryland said dismissively. “Yosef will handle it.”
Hector could only nod, at a complete loss for words. Beside them, Quinton’s face grew even paler.
“Oh, and there’s one more thing,” Ryland said. “A contract.”
Quinton stood up.
The Nash family butler, Shane, approached him and bowed respectfully. “Mr. Sargent, I will go over the list with you.”
Quinton took a deep breath, forcing himself to maintain his composure. “Of course. Thank you for your trouble.”
Shane smiled. “Not at all. Our young master’s instructions were that the black card, villas, and jewelry are for the young madam, Henrietta. The rest is for the Sargent family.”
Shane’s cheerful demeanor was a stark contrast to Quinton’s darkening expression. He felt as if a giant hand was squeezing his heart, crushing it.
The island, with its massive annual profits, was now a passive income stream for the Sargent family. The commercial properties and the skyscraper were now Sargent assets. They were Yosef’s thank you gift to Hector and Sabrina for raising Henrietta.
As a legally adopted son, he would, by law, benefit from these assets. How Hector and Sabrina chose to divide them in their will was a matter for the future, but while they were alive, he had a legal right to enjoy, manage, and inherit them, just like a biological child.
In other words, Yosef was throwing money at his face. This wasn't just a slap in the face. It was a soul-crushing execution of his pride.
