Winona wasn’t asking out of concern, but pure curiosity. Henrietta found she was curious as well. They both looked at Jolie, who stood there disheveled, her face flushed and sweaty, still seething with rage.
“What’s it to you?” Jolie snapped at Winona.
Winona shrugged. “Just asking. No need to bite my head off.”
“You just want to laugh at me, don’t you?” Jolie snarled. “Well, too bad! Why should I divorce him?”
Winona chuckled. “Alright, alright. It’s your life. If you want to sleep next to a scumbag every night, that’s your business.”
“Who are you calling a scumbag?” Jolie shrieked. “My husband just made a mistake! He was led astray! If someone hadn’t tempted him, he never would have done it!”
Henrietta stared in disbelief, a fresh wave of disgust washing over her. “All of you, get out. Go have your family drama at home.”
After the three of them had gone, Winona shook her head. “What a truly dysfunctional family. Is she one of those women who enjoys being treated like dirt? And did she just imply that you seduced Leon? That’s insane. And I call Leon a scumbag, and she attacks me?”
“Don’t try to understand it,” Henrietta advised.
“Right. Not even going to try.” Then Winona added, “I wonder how they’ll handle this at home.”
Henrietta just shook her head. “I have no idea, and I don’t care. They’re all cut from the same cloth.”
To deal with Leon, Matteo skipped filming for the day and dragged him back to their villa. Once there, his rage flared anew, and he threatened to cripple him.
Leon, having had time to come up with an excuse, immediately fell to his knees. “Matteo, I only did it to test Henrietta for you!”
Matteo wasn’t buying it. “Save it,” he sneered. “What if she had agreed? If she had said yes, would you still be claiming you were helping me? No, you would have started gathering evidence to ruin our family so you, the uneducated hick, could climb your way to the top! You’re a venomous snake. After everything my family has done for you, you repay us by trying to destroy us!”
“What do you want to do?” Pamela asked Jolie.
“What can I do?” Jolie cried. “I can’t let our son grow up without a father. And besides, maybe he was telling the truth. Maybe he was just trying to help Matteo. I’m not going to give people the satisfaction of laughing at me. I have a child; who gets divorced at this point?”
Pamela sighed. “Fine. If you want to protect him, that’s your choice. At least now you have leverage over him. Just be smart about it.”
Then she turned to Matteo. “After a mistake like this, he’ll be completely under our control. For Jayden’s sake, let it go. No real harm was done. Henrietta didn’t believe a word, right? That means she still has feelings for you. She would never destroy you. In a way, Leon did you a favor.”
Jolie chimed in. “Exactly! Bro, just forgive him! The more they want to see me get a divorce, the more I’ll refuse. I’ll show them how in love we are! Otherwise, I’ll never be able to live this down. I’ll flaunt our happiness in their faces tomorrow. They’re just jealous because they don’t have husbands or children of their own.”
But Matteo was still determined to get rid of him. “Are you that desperate for a man?” he yelled at Jolie. “He did this once; he’ll do it again the second it benefits him. You’re about to become a star. Why would you keep a man like that around? Divorce him! Let him crawl back to whatever hole he came from. He can’t have the child, either. Let him leave with nothing. Without the Coleman family, he’s nobody. He won’t survive a day in this city.”
“Please, just forgive him,” Jolie begged. “After this, I know he’ll never do it again. Trust me.”
