When Two Winters Met (Henrietta and Yosef) novel Chapter 150

“Impossible,” Matteo said, yanking off his tie. “When he wakes up, he’s out. We’re not even taking him to a hospital. Let him fend for himself.”

...

The next day, Henrietta and Winona speculated about what would become of Jolie and Leon. Even if they didn’t divorce, they would surely be in a cold war for a while, their relationship shattered.

Charlotte, having heard the story, was delighted. She called it karma, declaring that the entire Coleman family was evil and deserved everything they got. The gossip was so juicy that she skipped going to her film set, leaving her assistant director in charge, and came to the office instead, hoping to catch the next act of the drama.

And what a show it was. Jolie arrived at the company with Leon in tow. Instead of sending him to the set with Matteo, she brought him with her. Not only did they arrive together, but Jolie bought coffee for the entire company, including the crews on other film sets. With over two hundred employees, it was a considerable expense, especially since she couldn’t buy the cheap stuff without looking bad.

She didn’t just buy coffee; she made a point of telling everyone she met about her and Leon’s story, emphasizing that they were childhood sweethearts. She cornered the cleaning staff for an especially long chat.

Charlotte saw the spectacle during a walk around the office and returned to the executive suite, howling with laughter. Before she could even start dishing, there was a knock on the door.

Charlotte clutched her aching sides. “Don’t tell me it’s the happy couple.”

Henrietta and Winona exchanged confused glances.

“Come in,” Henrietta called.

The door opened, and in walked Jolie, leading Leon by the arm. Jolie sauntered forward, a bag of drinks in one hand and Leon’s arm in the other, the very picture of a doting wife. It was a shame Leon’s face was so swollen and bruised he looked like a prize fighter who had lost badly.

Henrietta and Winona were at a loss for words. This was her idea of a power move?

“Ms. Sargent,” Jolie said, placing the bag on the desk. “My husband and I are treating the whole company to coffee today.” She even took the drinks out of the bag for them. “I ordered the most expensive ones for you three. I know you wouldn’t drink anything less.”

“I see,” Henrietta said, unsure of what else to say. Their relationship was what it was; they would always be adversaries.
